Breakaway Sailing Into New York

The Breakaway is now visible on marine traffic . com, and is a mere 200 nautical miles from where she will pick up the pilot. She just reduced her speed from 22.1 kts. down to 17.2 kts, and using the waypoint system it shows her picking up the pilot in 11 hours if she maintains current speed.

I would say the tweet above shows a very accurate timeline.

I presume they want to bring her into the harbor without a lot of other traffic, since this will be her first time navigating the river. ;)

From the Ny harbor webcam Facebook page. I surprised that there is nothing on the news today so far.

This great photo was taken by Lou of PTZtv from the pilot boat that went out to meet Breakaway. He was onboard. Lucky guy!:)

Here she is! I had to take a ride down to see her. Honestly, she's gorgeous. The colors are amazing and she's HUGE. Passengers getting off were happy - talked to a few people who said they were really happy after this cruise.

Wow! I've seen this done from above before when the pilot is embarking/debarking, but seeing from the water line is so cool. Thanks for posting this, Emmy!

You are welcome. I thought it quite impressive for we cruisers to see it from this perspective. Kudos to the pilots in all the ports we enjoy cruising out of.

Thanks PTZtv:)
