Sorry for the delay everyone. We've been dealing with family, house stuff, and hockey playoffs :p. Cass should be getting to GT today and I'll finish up later in the week.

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay - like Chris said, just a lot going on... but I was able to get today all written up, just need to get it all on here... so now without delay... back to your regularly scheduled programming :p

We had a late arrival scheduled into Grand Turk, listed at 11am in the Fun Times. Chris woke up early, and was feeling energetic so decided to head to the gym. I stayed in the cabin and leisurely woke up, ran up to the lido to grab a little breakfast to bring back to the room, and watched a little of the Morning Show with Troy and the ACD (can’t remember his name). Chris brought his own breakfast back to the room and out on our balcony we could see another ship behind us in the distance – The Victory was coming in behind us! It was exciting to see her – we had friends on the ship that we were looking forward to meeting up with at Jack’s Shack!

Love the blue waters of the Turks!

We got into port and docked and were cleared about 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

We rushed to make it down and off the ship before they stopped debark for the Victory pulling in… made it down to deck 0 just as The Victory was pulling up, so they stopped us to get her tied up and docked… darn. We waited about 10 minutes, and then they let us resume debark. We got off the ship and headed down to the sand to walk along the beach to get to Jack’s.

We got there pretty early and ordered a drink and sat down at a table to wait for our Funatics - Eva, Al, and Rob - who got there shortly thereafter, and we had a great afternoon with old and new friends. They had just spent a long weekend in Key West with other Funatics and surprised us with some awesome Bride and Groom decoration, as well as one of the best gifts ever, a personalized plate they had everyone sign earlier that week. Love you Guys!

P1030645.JPG

We chatted, they told us all about their awesome Piano Bar player they had on board the Victory – a newbie to Carnival, who they were doing their best to break him in right… he ended up coming down to Jack’s as well, and we got to know Hollywood Joe (Joe Nagy) who seemed like a really nice guy who was trying to soak it all in and learn what Carnival guests want, and how to be FUN!

We got in the water to cool off for a bit, Chris decided to join a volleyball game with some of the crew from the ship. A lot of the crew came down here, and some of the ladies were taking the opportunity to sunbathe topless! They certainly attracted a lot of looks! Hey more power to them!

We ordered some food – conch and some other things (the conch was really good!) and honestly the food was a necessity at that point, because WOOOO those drinks really catch up to you after a few! Holy Cow I was probably more than a teensy bit over the legal limit if you know what I mean! We had a great time though!

We still had a little over an hour until we needed to be back on board, so we all packed up to make the trek back – stopping at the Crew Bar on the way for a dirty banana and then some swing shenanigans outside of Margaritaville. Sadly it was time to say goodbye and we both headed up the ramps to our different ships.

Chris went down to Sports Trivia while I got ready for the evening. It was the 2nd formal night, but I already knew we were skipping it – good choice because even after a dinner of some pizza and a few little desserts, I was still buzzed from those Jack Shack drinks from hours before… he’s gotta put something special in there!

We wandered around the ship a while and then went back to our balcony to relax a bit more and figure out what our next move was.

It was about 7:45 and we weren’t interested in any shows, and certainly not any more drinks, and I got the great idea to see if they could get us booked for massages at 8pm – I called the spa from the room, they had the open spots, and we had a great relaxing end to the night.

I should definitely try Jack's Shack next time I'm in Grand Turk. I was not impressed with Margaritaville. It started off nice (before it got crowded), but after more than 20 minutes with no service and stolen deck chairs off my private cabana, I was over it! Is Jack's just a short walk down the beach?

Is Jack's just a short walk down the beach?

It's about 500 yards down the beach from the cruise center. Great food and strong drinks. If you want a lounger & umbrella on the beach, you do need to pay for them, they are not free here, like at the cruise center. We are headed there in March, it will be our third time. :D

Friday - Sea Day - So after a nice relaxing massage we both had a good night's sleep. With the early night we woke a little earlier than usual and took our time getting ready for the day. Walked to Blue Iguana for breakfast and then headed back to our room to start packing :(. We figured we may as well get it out of the way now while there wasn't much going on.

The sun was blaring on our balcony so we lathered up with sun screen and enjoyed our own private serenity area. (With 4 port days and our own balcony, we never laid out in the sun on any of the open decks so can't comment on chair hogs or anything)

We still hadn't used our 'Free Drink' coupon which says can only be used in the MDR for breakfast or lunch. So we headed down to deck 3 around noon and asked one of the hostesses. She informed us that we could use it at the Lobby Bar around the corner so we grabbed a seat and watched the final round of Super Trivia (pretty good turn out on this cruise).

Got another drink at the bar and stayed for Scattegories. I thought we had a good chance of winning but lost by one. Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought of Darkwing Duck (The Hero that flaps in the night :p) for a cartoon character starting with D.

The Victory was ahead of us and apparently they like playing games by crossing back in forth in front of us so we never knew what side of the ship she'd be on.

Took advantage of my last Blue Iguana tacos (I really miss having these for lunch). They also had the Chocolate Extravaganza in the buffet today so we had a few things but for some reason wasn't in a mood for sweets.

Back to the room for a quick nap and to finish up packing. I definitely recommend packing before doing the Alchemy Bar Class as we found out last cruise.

I didn't know you could use your free drink coupon at the lobby bar! Darn! We ended up not using them at all because we missed the Punchliner Brunch on both sea days (the first because we were both a tad, er, hungover and the second because I was on the Behind the Fun tour). Wish I thought of asking. I could have gotten a free Mocha Chocolate Getaway! Bummer!

And, yes, the Liberty and Victory were definitely playing! That is exactly what Second Petty Officer Antonio told us on the bridge when someone asked on the Behind the Fun tour.

After finishing packing we went to the sports bar to finish up the final day of the challenges. We both got a beer (I had a Red Frog while Cass got something that tasted like someone threw up in a glass). We ended up finishing 3rd overall since we missed a few challenges and trivias (I doubt I'd ever win because I'll always miss a few).

Met up with some friends at the Alchemy Bar (I think they spent more time here than anywhere else) and had another Perfect Storm...OMG so good!!!

It was BMC night in the MDR and even though I've been disappointed with it the last couple times, I still wanted it for dinner. I started with the fruit sampler whild Cass tried the 'Didja Ever' option, Frog Legs.

She was not a fan. Fortunately she also got the crab cake.

P1030713_zps90ae5d60.jpg

We both had the Bacon, Mac, and Cheese and was pleasantly surprised. It was much better than the last 2 cruises and still one of my favorite dishes.

P1030716_zpsa4fd1dea.jpg

We also sadly had to say goodbye to Alina (I wanted to bring her home but apparently that's frowned upon )

Cass was feeling a little tired so she got a 'Spiked Expresso' while I skipped dessert. We spent a little time in the casino but neither of us were feeling it so we headed down to the first comedy show. Surprise, surprise we ran into friends at the Alchemy Bar. We all headed into the comedy lounge and for some reason they wanted to sit up front. We at least sat at the back of the table because I've seen enough comedy to know not to sit anywhere near the front. The first comedian, Pat Godwin, was very good. He had a different style in that he would play guitar and sing funny remixes of songs or just make up songs as he went along. He was easily one of the better comedians we've seen.

The next comedian, Al Romas, didn't come on for almost an hour and none of us fealt like just sitting there. We popped back into the Piano Bar to see if Peter had gained any momentum during the week......um no. There were about 5-6 people in there when our group came in. We stayed for about 4 songs and just couldn't take it. Cass called it a night while I decided to lose a little more money in the casino. I find that we're spending less and less time in there (probably because all we do is lose ). We set out a room service tag for breakfast at 7:30 and called it a night.

It really varies by ship. On the Breeze in January they were serving from the Lobby bar, but the bartenders were pretty upset about it because they just aren't staffed for that big of a crowd.

On the Conquest in April you could only use your ticket in the dining room at breakfast or lunch, which for me is fine because I prefer to eat there instead of any of the other venues.

We were on the Victory that was crossing back and forth in front of you. It was fun reading your review to see what you guys all did. We went horse back riding in Grand Turk with a couple that were on the Liberty. We got completely soaked by the massive rain storm but had a blast.

I guess I assumed our ships were racing back to port...and from what I remember when I woke up in Miami...we won.

I was on the Behind the Fun tour and while on the bridge they told us that Victory had to get back to Miami a half an hour before us. So, you "won" by default. ;)

Well I'm sure that is something your captain would say. He didn't want to admit defeat. Kidding...I'm sure they need a certain amount of room between ships to enter in to Miami. I enjoyed watching you guys turn around in the harbor and pull in in front of us.

I also thought it was neat sailing all the way back with you...it seemed like we were part of a regatta or something.

Yes, that was very cool. I especially liked seeing Victory all lit up in the distance at night! :)
