Enchantment comes to PC -April 25-29 2013- A mini review

Recommended Posts

I think I will go for 7 but more mid ships...on the deck plans the cabins in the open "area" near the centrum - are those open to that elevator/stair centrum area or is there a hallway seperating them as on most ships. From the deck plans it looks like xx94-xx16 are in that open area and there might be some noise from below! being close to the stairs and elevator would be a bonus with mom, but only if it's quiet, she's a very early to bed gal!!

I can only comment that the use of the Centrum for events such as the 70's night are very loud. We were in the first ocean view, starboard behind the R Bar area and without the barrier door to the hallway it would NOT have been tolerable in the cabin. I did not go on deck 7 but I'm sure someone will answer that.

I have to add a comment about the alcohol package. I think this is a very bad idea.

I know people love to get drunk on cruises. Duh. You see it every cruise. I like to drink and I like to have a good time. I don't understand how/why someone would pay for a vacation and then be so drunk they don't quite remember their entire vacation, but to each their own, as long as they aren't ruining other people's cruises. Live it up!

However, my wife/I were down at the pool early in the trip and overheard a sad conversation. There were two male couples in the pool and they were going on and on about how much they were drinking just to get their money's worth on the package. We saw one of those couples several dozen times on the trip. The smaller guy was leading the larger one around like a drunk puppy each time. He seemed to be moving him from chair to chair and bar to bar. He was going up to the bar and ordering (pure assumption: to avoid his partner being cut off because he was drunk) and the other guy was just out in La-La Land wasted. The really drunk one just kept flopping around on the chairs with an occasional loud shout of something random. He should have been cut off way before. I went up to one of the bars and showed them who the drinks were going to and the bartender said he'd be careful. The one guy appeared to be drunk every time we saw them.

I also met a woman who said her husband had been either drunk or hungover or both the entire cruise because he was trying to use their package to the fullest. She said he was drinking enough for the both of them.

Ultimately, both of these situations are fully on the people involved... but it was rough to see. I'm not suggesting this is typical, but it is pretty easy to see how this could really be a nightmare with the wrong cast of characters on a ship.

Bummer! I'm hoping that one more cabin will help absorb some noise as we will be the second cabin down in Oct.

Was the location nice other than the noise?

Thanks for your report. This is why I don't really like the casino either...so much sad pathology right under your nose:(

I'm watching this alcohol package stuff closely too. I think if the person is an alcoholic at home, it's not going to get better on a cruise;). Im sure those partners were enabling/suffering at home too. For me, it's about who I'm willing to surround myself with and still enjoy my own vacation. Im generslly a live and let live kind of person, but a drunk can easily ruin everyones time ( think throw up in a pool:rolleyes:) On Allure, we did see people who bought the package, but we didn't see anything out of control. (Except for one couple in Love and Marriage:p)

I'm more concerned about these shorter cruises. It may be the end of them for me, there are plenty of other options, but I used to think they were kind of lighthearted and fun, but if they turn out to just be kind of an " icky" booze cruise, then I would make a change. Next Feb on Enchantment will be the test!

We're on the ship now. Beautiful day :). I have heard quite a few crew talking amongst each other about requesting transfers. I can imagine it would be hard going from 7-12 nights to 3-4.

The ship looks beautiful. The public spaces are all spotless. Our suite is a little rough around the edges, but nothing worth mentioning. The new bathrooms and carpeting/furniture are a nice touch. The crew seems to be adapting well to the new environment.

All in all we are having a fantastic first day. The new Diamond Lounge and CL are both very nice.

Had an amazing time on this ship for the first cruise out of PC. Park Cafe-awesome, had a salad and the chicken wrap which I love. We thought the shows were great. Scott Record - love him. Saw him on Serenade so were so thrilled when we saw he was on this ship. Actually met him the night after his show when we were at trivia.

I thought the layout of the ship was really cool since it was my first time on a Vision Class. Have been on all the classes but this. Loved the arches at the pool, thought they were really cool

Food is very subjective, but we had the best head waiter EVER in 51 cruises. he was so attentive and totally took care of us. I am pretty much a veggie and my 2 sisters are GF and every night he personally delivered out food and brought us surprises. Absolutely awesome service

We enjoyed all the shows, had a blast at Quest, really enjoyed Love and Marriage.

Also got to meet the CD and his wife. We thought they were fantastic. Did a really good job

I would cruise Enchantment again in a heartbeat. Since we live in SW FL won't make that drive very often, but I think we will go on her for my hubby's 70th birthday in Jan. Cannot think of a better way to celebrate that birthday for him

Thanks for the mini-review. DH and I will board on Friday of this week and we are soooo excited to sail on Enchantment! If you spent any time on the pool deck, what kind of things do they show on the tv screen? Oh, and who, by the way is Scott Record? Is he someone we should watch for? He sounds interesting...

Kruzerci-

Hope the crew isn't so disappointed that we get crap service when we board this Friday! LOL I know that probably won't happen, but I wonder what their concerns are about the shorter sailings. Have a good cruise!

You won't! You won't they are in good spirits. I can imagine it is just tough doing two turnover days every week. I think the bar staff are probably in heaven. They're all happy and the bars are busy.

Given that change days are the hardest, their jobs just got 4 x more difficult!!;)

Wondering where they put the diamond lounge? I don't see one on the plans? I see the CL as part of the VC, but where is the DL?

The DL is the second floor of the VC. You walk around the side, up a ramp, and up a couple of stairs. I will post pictures when I get back. The CL has a little better view, but the DL feels a little bit larger.

Hunh? Well, since the deck plans only get to deck 11, I guess that's why I can't see it;) Looking forward to seeing your photos!

Park Cafe is our new Windjammer for day one of embarkation!

It's a hidden gem with great food and a quiet atmosphere!

We enjoyed a just sliced roast beef on freshly baked hamburger sized roll with Au jus and any fixing's to your specifications yesterday. There is so much variety for your breakfast, lunch, or late night snacking!

Hot soups and assorted salads are also available for those who are not gourmet sandwich eaters....

NEW Complimentary Park Café, where you can grab gourmet sandwiches, salads and more.

Opened at noon on embarkation day. long line so get there early. I did and it was delicious.

I would call it deck 11.5 ;). It's more of a loft to Deck 11, I guess, than deck 12.

We had an easy 5 minute muster and we have just left Port Canaveral so I will be turning off the phone soon. So far so good, we have been pleasantly surprised with the renovations.

I was also on the first cruise out of PC and was very impressed with Scott Record who I hadn't heard of. He is a unique artist -- great singer/impressionist/comedian. I highly recommend his show. There was also another show with a comedian (sorry, I don't remember his name) but he was also excellent. Every show he does is different as he uses the audience for his material -- very funny -- just don't arrive late :) The production show, however, which is something new with a rock n'roll theme was the usual (IMHO) amateurish attempt by the RCI singers and dancers. We left after 10 minutes.

Things are still going well. We are poolside in Nassau. Had perfect weather so far.

They did open the solarium roof this morning and it has remained open! It is so much cooler now. You can actually enjoy it.

Does it get much better than this?

We are waiting for room service to deliver our dinner from the MDR on our balcony at sunset. :D

I have booked Enchantment again for August. It is fantastic to have an updated, newer feeling ship doing short cruises and long weekend sailings. There have been a few minor hiccups, but overall we have had a great getaway. It blows Monarch and Majesty out of the water in terms of short Bahamas cruises.
