We arrived at the terminal around 9:30 and were on board by noon. Luckily at this point the Lido deck was not too crowded and we found tables and all grabbed a bite to eat. There is a glass roof over the Lido deck which was closed so it was warm and we were able to sit comfortably there. It was cloudy and about 47 degrees when we boarded.

We were in Group 1 and the boarding processing went very smoothly. Of course, we witnessed some people who were trying to push there way to the front of the line before we were cleared for boarding, but the staff at the terminal handled this very well and these people were made to leave the area and find seats.

The muster drill was very quick. We stood on deck 4 and the whole process took maybe 6-7 minutes.

I did notice a bit of a difference with the food on this trip. Some things I liked and some things I didn't. Some people in our group absolutely loved every meal that they ordered, but I remember the food tasting better on prior cruises. Believe me, I did not go hungry! There was always something I found to eat! I preferred eating in the buffet and my husband and I struck up a deal, I would go to the dining room 3 nights with him if he ate at the buffet with me on 3 nights.

We did go to the steak house and it was delicious!! It is $35 per person, but well worth the price. I recommend trying it!

The ships layout is a bit odd, especially if you are used to the miracle. There is no direct route to some places, and you have to go up a level, travel to the back of the ship and then go down a deck. This is true for the Golden Pearl dining room. Here is my advice...Go to deck 5, walk to the back of the ship, go down to deck 4 and the dining room will be right there....very easy if you do this.

I will continue in a bit after I get my little guy to school.

Was super disappointed:(

New girl Hailey was in there and she played horrible songs and the place was empty the whole cruise. We were really looking forward to the piano bar too because we had such a great experience on the cruise before this one with Brad in there.

This has been my experience every cruise since 2009. In 2009 we were on Inspiration and Barry Miller was the PB guy. He was phenominal. I would actually book a cruise just because he was on it. We rushed through dinner to get to the bar and closed it down every night.

Since then, the PB's are empty and the entertainers have been horrible.

Unfortunately, Barry has left CCL for NCL and I am not to thrilled with NCL.

Hey Herb and Jamman! Fancy meeting you guys here! :D Herb, we are sailing on Splendor NEXT WEEK! Hope Joanne is well and you are enjoying this awesome weather!

OP, just one thing if you don't mind: on the Miracle there was shampoo and body wash dispensers in the shower. Is this the same on the Splendor? TIA.

looking forward to your thoughts on the Splendor... Have a great time... Bon Voyage :)

Hey Herb!! We are all well Thanks. It's funny, how many times did we plan cruises on the same ships, the same year, but never got the dates right? :)

We are going on the May 9th cruise and because of the conflicting reports about where to get car service when disembarking I emailed the manhatten terminal this week. They emailed back and said go to level 2 and call the driver for him to pick us up there. I plan on taking a copy of this email with me if anyone tries to make us cross the street. There are 6 of us with alot of luggage.

Thanks! I've been trying to find this out! I emailed them also and didn't get an answer. Perhaps I'll try again, so I also have an email to show!

What is the e-mail address? We have 3 of us all over age 60 who have to cross the street with luggage! Needless to say, this is not something we are looking forward to!

We have a friend taking us and picking us up who does not a TC on his license.

Level 2 would work out fine for all of us.

We get to do this all again in early Dec. but there will only be 2 of us.

We have ATD, so will be in the Black Pearl. We are on deck 8 aft. I just went to www.cruisedeckplans.com and "dragged the decks" to figure out how to get from 8 down to the dining room and I can't for the LIFE of me figure it out. Does anyone have any tips/hints or do I just have to figure it when I get on the ship? I thought I would just take elevator down to lobby, then walk to the dining room but I don't see that anything on deck 8 goes that far down.

I think someone posted on another Splendor thread that you can walk from bow to stern on deck 5 so the easiest would be to go down to deck 5 walk toward the middle of the ship and then go down one deck and I guess the dining room would be right there.

I am sailing on Splendor in 3 weeks. My cabin is Lido Deck FWD and I think I will be in Gold Pearl (AFT) so I am going to have to figure that out myself

Just walk from aft to forward on Deck 8 then take the atrium elevators down to the deck 3 lobby. Easy Peasy.

I used the contact us on the manhatten cruise terminal website. I emailed them earlier this week, and they got back to me a day later.

That's what I did too - maybe they were busy that day or it got lost - I'll try again.

walk to the forward elevators on deck 8......take elevators to deck 3......

Entrance to the ATD (Black Pearl) is behind the atrium staircase, wa-la!

Btw all elevators (except the glass elevators.) go to deck 0, 1 thru deck 11.

Okay, thanks to all of you. I was "dragging" the decks and it looked like the elevators only went to a few floors. But I guess that is just a mistake.

UGH!!!! We enjoyed the piano bar on the Pride with Roger and was hoping to enjoy this one as well. Oh well, I guess we will be hitting the casino with our OBC. I will still make it an awesome cruise.. Thanks for the info.

Maraprince, I emailed them and asked if we had to cross the street for drop off/pick up. I have cruised out of Manhattan dozens of times, the most recent in February, and never had to do that. She got right back to me and told me if I want to cross the street I can, but we can be picked up right at the ship! ;)
