yogimax Posted June 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2005 It's a total waste... nothing like the t.v. show... more geared to adult voyeurism
tef43 Posted June 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2005 how do the participants get choosen?Names drawn out of a hat. It's pretty pathetic, even by Carnival pool game standards.

yogimax Posted June 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2005 Usually run by an offensive assistant cruise director - stuff like: bring back 10 bras and a sock with a hole in it.
SxyEbnyFem Posted June 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 20, 2005 anyone ever participated? how do the participants get choosen? my daughter has always wanted to participate. My DBF signed me up when we were on our first cruise aboard the Conquest this past Jan. We were traveling with several of our couple friends, too - everyone knew what he had done, but me. When they called my name (they draw names), I was shocked! Nonetheless, I still participated since I love Survivor, but I also had the encouragement from my DBF & our travelmates. It was really fun!! They picked 2 teams of equal number of females & males, I believe it was 4 total on each team. After each game segment, the losing team had to vote someone off. Make sure you daughter knows how to swim, I do not. :o There will be some pool events. Out of 8 contestants, I made it down to the Final 3. Not bad for a gal who can't swim, eh? (Oddly enough, I didn't get voted out after the pool events!!) It was a good time, lots of laughs & whacky challenges. We even bought the video, which shows a lot of the game on it. In the end, I got a ship on a plaque & a t-shirt. Practically everyone who watched the game or saw me on tv knew who I was after that day. Had lots & lots of ppl come up to me to say how brave I was to do the pool events not knowing how to swim & how they were hoping I would win. That was nice. Even got drinks bought for me throughout the week, too! HA! Tell your daughter to go for it!! Have fun! Happy sailing, T.

Litewait Posted June 20, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2005 Just as the above describes. Women go in one hat, men in another. 5 of each are picked. I was picked, ( my son loved that I played) and came in 2nd. There was a scavenger hunt, limbo, towel animal making and a pool contest. We had to ride an inflated whale. It was really very fun. I figure what they heck, I will probably never see these people again and it it makes my kid smile it's worth it. Everyone called me "super mom" the rest of the week LOL! The games in the show lounge are usually volunteers. Newlywed ect, they ask who's been married the longest, shortest ect. Some the names again go in the hat and you are picked at random. Talent show, you try out. I go to have fun and enjoy the time with my kids. I'd do it again in a heart beat! I say go for it! Bsan1221 Posted June 20, 2005 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2005 I also got picked to play survivor... It was a lot of fun.... We had a scavenger hunt (which included finding dental floss, dentures, breakfast menus, playing cards, etc.) We also had an eating contest.. We also had to make a "model ship" out of the things we could find all over the ship.. Then they would put them in the hot tub and if it sank your group would go to the tribal counsel.. Then the 2 finalist had to throw themselves in the pool and grab the things that where on the bottom of the pool....
HMB1950 Posted June 20, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted June 20, 2005 thanks for the info!! I've been on many carnival cruises and we've enjoyed watching it. about the drawing names out of the hat.....do you sign up right before survivor starts? do they make an announcement? Litewait Posted June 20, 2005 #12 Share Posted June 20, 2005 You sign up right before it starts and they do announce it. It's always been on the Lido deck and I believe it was right after the ice carving demo this year. I did it on the Spirit in April. Happy Cruising! cbreit Posted June 21, 2005 #17 Share Posted June 21, 2005 I got picked for the "Weakest Link" onboard Golden Princess a few years ago. Had a blast. The host who asked the questions was the son of the woman who was the host on the tv show. (Can't remember her name) I only got 1 question right but hung in there until the 7th round or so. I also had people coming up to me during the cruise saying "You are the weakest link!" Really good time!!!
