Cruise4Music Posted May 29, 2013 #77 Share Posted May 29, 2013 I just looked at page 4 and a read a lot of game show stuff. Lets get back on topic with CUTBACKS. Reunion cruises Paying cash for Bingo Free Cruise raffle Cost of Bingo......up, up, up Future Cruise certificate (possibly the dumbest cutback yet) Pulltabs minimum payout for $5 down to $1 (Cost still $5) Past guest party water down to nothing. Free Cappucino Casino perks....going, going, almost gone. Ship Maintenence (see sinking and fires threads) Ship on a stick giveaways (Champagne prize giveaways) The list goes on. With so many "cutbacks" why do you want a Future Cruise certificate?

MRVEGAS711 Posted May 30, 2013 #83 Share Posted May 30, 2013 With so many "cutbacks" why do you want a Future Cruise certificate? Going on 11 Carnival cruises, I have proven my loyalty. I have liked to cruise Carnival. Going forward, I intend on trying other lines. I never thought I would say that and its unfortunate but Carnival has earned my disloyalty now. opentoadventure Posted May 30, 2013 #85 Share Posted May 30, 2013 ...Also does not start serving til like 9 am... Thank goodness we can finally get breakfast without having to rush out of our cabin. The early breakfasts and no brunch options put a damper on our vacation, but now I'm looking forward to trying Carnival again. Sorry someone else's cutback is our welcome change. larkz Posted May 30, 2013 #86 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Cabins are always way too cold. The first thing we always do when we get to our cabin is to close the vent so it's not too cold in there. I hope it's true that they have increased the temp to 76. Same here. Chilly cabins have been my experience. I close the vents too.
Warm Breezes Posted May 30, 2013 #87 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Cutback/changes...you can call it whatever you want. The fact is Carnival is what it is today. Some people like it. Some people don't. Just like they always have. If what they offer today isn't of value to you then all you have to do is choose a line that is offering the things that you do value. There are plenty of others out there that do find value in what Carnival is today. I'm not saying this as a Carnival cheerleader. I don't believe in brand loyalty. I do believe in making the best choice for my family based on what we want and what the ships are currently offering. If you choose Carnival based on what you liked about it in years past then your expectations could lead you to disappointment. The same could be said for any line. They all are constantly making changes. Some of those changes could be things you value thus you feel they made a "cut back". Others may not feel that way. To them your "cut back" may be a "plus" or be offset by other "pluses" that they value more. My point is, it is up to you to be the informed consumer and find out what the ships you are looking at for your vacation offer today...not yesterday. Then choose the one that best fits your wants today...after all you've probably changed over the years too. There are a wide variety of cruisers out their that the cruiselines are trying to target. One line would not be able to please everyone. It is not possible. They do not cater to you individually, but to a target market that is constantly changing as nothing is static. If you no longer fit their target market, chances are you aren't going to be happy with the changes they make to appeal to their target market. It's up to you to find the line that is targeting you for a customer. I would find it a waste of my time wishing for what was, when I can look for what is and maybe find something even better than what was (in my eyes anyway)...even if it is on a different line. Silverscreencruiser Posted May 30, 2013 #88 Share Posted May 30, 2013 WOW. Just wow. Carnival adds comedy shows--something they actually did several years ago btw, and you want to call that a cutback????!!!!! Also, if you don't like the uncensored comedy--which you are warned about before hand and isn't really much different from some of the comedy clubs that are broadcast on TV, then go to the family friendly shows. I think part of the reason there isn't a show in the main lounge every night any more is because comedy used to be held in the main lounge a couple nights of the cruise. Now, you can go to the comedy club EVERY night, so comedy has been moved, not eliminated, and more of it has been added. So not only is this not a cutback, it's an addition. You seem to be confused as to what a cutback is. Everything that you have described are CHANGES that you just don't happen to like. Epic fail on your part. Amen to that. When people talk about entertainment "cutbacks," they always forget the comedy club. When we first cruised, one night's entertainment in the main lounge would always be a couple of comics doing their clean show. So now, instead of one night with two comics and one night with some third rate night club singer or magician in the main lounge, we get six nights of comics in the comedy club. Many of them do different shows during the cruise, so if you like comedy, you can easily have a dozen different shows to attend. Now I understand some people don't like comedy as much and may not like the change. But it's a change... it's not a cutback.
