Carnival cutbacks - what are they?

Recommended Posts

I don't think carnival has cut back on the temps but there seem to be certain cabins that for one reason or another don't get adequate cooling.

Their rule that 76 or under is adequate is a little ridiculous rather than finding the problem and fixing it.

The one time I complained they sent a engineer with a themostat to my cabin and said, see its says 74 degrees, nothing is wrong. I said but Im too hot. They said it meets their standards for normal. They refused to adjust the vents so I got more air.

Nor can Procter and Gamble raise prices, not more than a fraction or their sales will go down. No business that I know of has the freedom to jump brackets and start jacking up prices.

Actually the oil and gas industry and the funeral industry do a pretty good job of that. I haven't run into many people who won't pay whatever is being asked for a gallon of gas if the gauge is on E, and other that my father, I don't know anyone who comparison shopped for a casket:)

exactly what i mean as being ridiculous. they don't care if you are comfortable, they just say deal with it.

I complained twice on our CCL cruise and they said the same thing. day 3 finally got a fan.

It shouldn't have to be so difficult to be comfortable.

Yes, but that pretty much goes to the rest of my comment. As an industry they need to all jump in together to create a rising tide of prices. Even then, the cheaper ones will still be a little cheaper, and the premium ones will still be higher.

I just got off the magic and the only cut back I noticed was that I didn't have all the freebies in the bathroom like I have on my past three cruises. (Razor, tums, etc.)

I don't believe that the entertainment was lacking. The illusionist show was amazing and I would compare it to anything I've seen in Vegas.

so they had real entertainment on the ship every night in the production shows?

Hasbro game and Legends doesn't count.

I did not say they had it every night I said what I did see was not cheap entertainment. I think they had shows with the dancers 3 nights, which included props and such. Wednesday night was the illusionist and Thursday night was a magician.

OK ty. I was just asking a question just to understand clearly.

I didn't say that you said anything. When you said it wasn't lacking i thought maybe they were reversing their field and going back in the other direction from what others had posted and had "real" entertainment which didn't include the pax.

It sounds like you had a pretty good variety of entertainment. :)

Thank you for the clarification and have a good one.:)

I don't even remember seeing any hasbro game shows at all while I was on there. But I may have just missed it

I don't think Magic has the hasbro game shows yet. The plans for the Magic, as well as the building process for the ship, was well underway before Carnival came up with this 0.2 gimmick. Breeze, Conquest, Glory, & maybe a few others are doing this hasbro thing. I went to one "show". It may have some cute moments, but this doesn't pass for a nighttime entertainment show. It should take place during the daytime or during some dead time on a night when they only do one show, like leading up to the Welcome Aboard Show. The difference in entertainment between Magic & Breeze is quite dramatic. Magic still has the good stuff, especially the magic show! Some ships have seen more dramatic cuts in nighttime entertainment than others.

Entertainment. We love going to the main lounge every night for shows. That is no more.

Have also added "George Lopez" Comedy Shows. They are a joke for us. Went to 2 on our last cruise. I guess if you can get past the valguarity you will enjoy it. I cannot.

Added Comedy Brunch on alot of ships. Another joke This takes the place of breakfast in the main dining room on sea days. We were not impressed with the food. Also does not start serving til like 9 am. Sorry by then I am done and out on deck usually. Service is extremely slow.

Just a couple of things we saw on last cruise.

WOW. Just wow. Carnival adds comedy shows--something they actually did several years ago btw, and you want to call that a cutback????!!!!! Also, if you don't like the uncensored comedy--which you are warned about before hand and isn't really much different from some of the comedy clubs that are broadcast on TV, then go to the family friendly shows. I think part of the reason there isn't a show in the main lounge every night any more is because comedy used to be held in the main lounge a couple nights of the cruise. Now, you can go to the comedy club EVERY night, so comedy has been moved, not eliminated, and more of it has been added. So not only is this not a cutback, it's an addition. You seem to be confused as to what a cutback is. Everything that you have described are CHANGES that you just don't happen to like. Epic fail on your part.

It's the "brunch" part, instead of breakfast and lunch, that equals a cutback. Comedians who stand there for five minutes after piped in George Lopez intro: smoke and mirrors.

This is the first I've read about cabin temperature being regulated. 70 degrees plus is totally unacceptable in a small cabin. I don't pay all that money to go on vacation to be hot! I hope that isn't really true.

I never used to think entertainment cutbacks were a big deal until I started cruising NCL and experienced their great entertainment. It truly does enhance my cruise experience. YMMV.

Cabins are always way too cold. The first thing we always do when we get to our cabin is to close the vent so it's not too cold in there. I hope it's true that they have increased the temp to 76.

I fail to see how the George Lopez thing is an improvement. CCL use to have comedy shows in the lounge and in the theater at midnight.

They took away professional entertainers, cheapened the production shows and moved the comedians to only perform in a crowded lounge and for that, the ccl cheerleaders say is not a cutback but a "change"? Get real.

A cutback under every rock. Again I see the "George Lopez thing" as a big improvement.

With some Cruise Critic people calling every change a cutback is anybody still paying attention.

I think not.

"Improvement"? As evidenced by what? They had comedians most nights before GL, now they have the same thing but with a different name. Again, how is that better?

CCL syncophants love to drop the word "change", as if the cost of something that has been cut as been put somewhere else-it hasn't.

If something is eliminated of modfiied in a way that it is intended to save money, it is a cutback, no arguing that.

Playlist shows? Cutback.

Replacing guest entertainers with cruisers? Cutback.

Elimination of captains cocktail party? Cutback.

Just your opinion.

Opinions vary.

Nothing I can say will change your mind.

A cutback under every rock.

In my opinion.

What I do is toss out the post that only praise.

Toss out the post that only criticize.

And pay attention to the rest.
