Poutine in Victoria

Recommended Posts

Out toward the naval base in Esquimalt there are a few places. As the navy is about 25% French Canadian, there tends to be a lot more specialty retail outlets catering to their tastes. There used to be a place just past Esquimalt Plaza on the south side of the road saying "Ici Poutine Ici" (just looked it up, it's called La Belle Patate). To get there from downtown, there's very frequent service on the #6 "Esquimalt" bus.

Heck there's even a specialty Newfoundland grocery out by the base!

Just a few blocks away from the cruise ship shuttle bus stop and 6 blocks away from the Empress Hotel you will find perhaps the best in Victoria. That is at the "Local Kitchen" with great views out over the harbour. Great patio for good weather dining, and cheap beer!! On Wharf St at Bastion Square.
