UPDATED List of Current Cruise Directors (CD)

Thanks for keeping this list up to date. I have never heard of Mitch Merucci. I think Marc is one of the best, and really like that he is on one of the smaller ships. We are booked on the Enchantment June 13. I would appreciate any input or information, not that it really changes anything.

Just back from the 5/31 Oasis sailing and Jimmy was in fine form. He skewed toward a younger demographic, but we found him energetic and fun. His 70's party was the best we've experienced at sea and Quest was also one of the most memorable. Pretty obvious why he's part of the "A" team that will be on Quantum.

 

PS - Captain Trym took over for Captain Patrik on Oasis. Considering how well loved Capt. Patrik was by the crew with whom we spoke, am guessing many will want to move to Quantum when given the opportunity.

Hi Donna, not that I doubt you but I am wishful hoping. Are you sure Ricky Matthews wont be on the Oasis until Nov 15th sailing? Could he be on Nov 1st or will he be on break from Oct 16-Nov 15? I loved him on Oasis a few years back. Can anyone give me their take on Drew Devine?

I can never be entirely sure, as all the info for this list is second-hand, or even third-hand, and is hard to verify unless the CD himself posts the info here or on social media.

 

I imagine that it is possible for Ricky to move directly to Oasis from Grandeur, but it is more likely that he would get a break between the two contracts. Also, it is likely that Drew's contract is 4 months long, as 2 or 4 months is a usual contract length and we don't often see 3 month contracts.

 

Did you look and see if Drew or Ricky are on social media? Perhaps you can send them a message to confirm their schedule on Oasis. Or you can try to write to the concierge on Oasis and ask who your CD will be (although that info is not always so reliable).

 

Or, maybe someone who is cruising with them now can clarify the dates for us?

Hi Donna! With Allan Brooks taking over on Allure tomorrow I'm hoping he's on through my Sept. 14th sailing on the Allure. If he is still there I'll try and find out what his plans might be and report back to you. Of course someone might beat me to it that sails before me. :)

This is a particularly difficult part of the puzzle to figure out. Too many unknowns, with too many possibilities.

 

Just some of my ramblings:

 

Allan usually has 2 month contracts followed by 4 months off, supposedly by his choice. So unless his preference has changed, he might not be willing to take over the 4 month contract that Ken has been doing (assuming that it is offered to him). Or, he may do it once or twice until a regular replacement is assigned to the 4 month slot.

 

(Leigh Xuereb is being reassigned from Explorer, but probably won't be ready until November - he is a very dynamic CD - perhaps he will take over on Allure. Or Freedom, which also needs a new regular CD)

 

Another consideration: one of the CDs (I think it was Graham) once said that a CD can only stay a maximum of 3 years on one ship - It seems that Allan is probably approaching 3 years on Allure, so he may be reassigned too.

 

It will be interesting to see what happens!

I just got off the May 22nd Explorer and spoke directly with Leigh at his meet and Greet:D and i asked him if he would be on the Explorer for the November 1st Repo to PC.

He said he will be on the Nov 1st sailing:D just coming back from vacation but Irky said he won't be there he'll be on vacation:(.

What a great team they are.

Whether that will change who knows that's just what he relayed to me.

 

I certainly hope Leigh will be there...... he is fantastic.

It looks like he has another contract on Explorer before being reassigned!

 

Irky said sometime ago that he is not coming back after this contract. He is getting married and plans to stay in Turkey and work as an airplane pilot

This is a particularly difficult part of the puzzle to figure out. Too many unknowns, with too many possibilities.

 

Just some of my ramblings:

 

Allan usually has 2 month contracts followed by 4 months off, supposedly by his choice. So unless his preference has changed, he might not be willing to take over the 4 month contract that Ken has been doing (assuming that it is offered to him). Or, he may do it once or twice until a regular replacement is assigned to the 4 month slot.

 

(Leigh Xuereb is being reassigned from Explorer, but probably won't be ready until November - he is a very dynamic CD - perhaps he will take over on Allure. Or Freedom, which also needs a new regular CD)

 

Another consideration: one of the CDs (I think it was Graham) once said that a CD can only stay a maximum of 3 years on one ship - It seems that Allan is probably approaching 3 years on Allure, so he may be reassigned too.

 

It will be interesting to see what happens!

No, no, no....Graham said that when he had been on Freedom for 3 years and then was reassigned to Rhapsody. I think he's only been there about 1.5 years.

 

But it's sounds like that's a policy of RCI to keep a CD on the same ship for no more than 3 years.

Yeah I think that's right Donna. I last sailed the Freedom with Graham in 2011 and I think he left the Freedom in early 2012. See, I knew I couldn't get that lucky!!!! ;)

Grandeur OTS - Paul Rutter May 24 until August 1, then Ricky Matthews from Aug 1 until October 16, then Rich Edwards from October 16 until February 2015.

 

Independence OTS - Joff Eaton May 17 through October 25. Then who? (This is Joff's last contract on Indy - after his vacation, he is headed to the shipyard mid-March to prepare for taking out Anthem on April 22, 2015).

Since you are cruising on FR in September, maybe you can use the email for the concierge or for entertainment info to try and find out????

 

To email the concierge,use the 2 letter code for ship(i.e FR for Freedom),followed by an underscore then Concierge@rccl.com The underscore is ONLY between the ships two letters and Concierge. i.e FR_Concierge@rccl.com

 

To email for entertainment info: web_reservations@rccl.com Note the underscore between web and reservations.

They should be returning sometime this month, but we don't know the exact assignment at this time.
