UPDATED List of Current Cruise Directors (CD)

Recommended Posts

Mercedes left the Adventure yesterday when we reached Southampton

Correct and Rob Macnally took over.

He worked with Joff Eaton as the Activities Manager on the Indie and is excellent.

Had a long chat with him the day before we reached Southampton.

ps Rob loves Candy specially the old ones, a friend for life for a Curly Whirly.

General question...

How far in advance are CD's scheduled for specific ships? The reason I ask is that we just booked Allure for its new/first season in the Mediterranean May 2015, and will be curious at some point to learn who will be the CD on her.

Thanks in advance.

I also think he's really great. I'm always disappointed to read people bashing him. Not everyone clicks. But I just can't imagine what's not to like about Ricky.

There is no standard. Some CD's have a schedule that follows a clear pattern, while others have more random assignments. Some ships have two regular CDs who alternate in a set pattern, and other ships are covered by various CDs in no particular pattern. Some CD's announce their schedules on social media, and others are more "secretive" or simply do not know beyond the near future. As well, CD's generally have a maximum of 3 consecutive years on the same ship. And, in all cases, everything can change at a moment's notice, so nothing is set in stone.

Allure is one of the ships that's had a pattern of Ken Rush for 4 months, followed by Allan Brooks for 2 months. But that is all about to change with Ken moving over to prep and take out the new builds. Until his replacement is announced and a new pattern emerges, it will be hard to predict too far in advance.

Keep an eye on this thread though, because I update as soon as new info is reported!

there will always be people unhappy no matter what. but he was funny, even explaining things he wasnt the pc and boring type. and watching him before a show with staff i saw he was a nice person for real not just putting on an act for all, i liked that.

Ricky Matthews is my favorite CD in 29 cruises. We had him on Oasis a couple of years ago, and (nothing against Graudeur but) I think it's a shame he isn't on one of the newest and largest ships. He's a natural entertainer with genuine enthusiasm! I really hope they'll consider upgrading his ship assignment in the near future.

Some of the best CDs actually prefer to be on the smaller and more intimate ships because their role is more visible and they have more passenger interaction.

True, I recall when Richard Spacey wanted to move on from Oasis... Occurred the week before we sailed on her the first time, much to our disappointment.

I took a peak at the Explorer Cruise Compass for Day 1 of the 9 nighter that began on 5/8, and it listed Leigh as the cruise director. I spoke to Erky and he will be there with Leigh until the end of July.

On our Feb Oasis cruise, our CD was named Dave and we see there is a Dave Chapman listed who has left RCCL. If this is the same person, then we're sorry to hear he has left Royal. Dave was fantastic on our Feb Oasis cruise. We'll be curious to see which cruise line he has joined.

Yes...it must have been Dave Chapman !!!....we had him on the Oasis in Sept. and he was a very funny and active CD. (he's got an great accent too lol)

Just got off the Allure a few weeks ago and had Ken Rush....he was funny but no Dave funny. And just seemed like he was following the script and doing the whole paint by numbers type of job.

Yes, that was Dave Chapman. Even though he had already left RCI, he did an emergency fill in on Oasis, as a favor, when Jimmy Rhodes was recovering from knee surgery.

Can anyone going on Allure in the near future find out Ken's schedule? (How much longer will he be on the ship, and if he expects to return after his break, or if this is his last contract before moving up to Quantum. Any idea who will be taken over when his leaves? Also, will Allan be staying with Allure?)

Hi everyone!

Do you know who will be the CD on the August 15th sailing of Grandeur of the Seas?

Hi everyone!

Do you know who will be the CD on the August 15th sailing of Grandeur of the Seas?

I seem to remember that Ricky Matthews expects to return after his break, so it's likely him. Perhaps someone traveling on Grandeur soon can confirm this with him.
