Details on the NEW 2016 ship!

You'll have to enlighten me. Which factor did they leave out?

When it comes to price, Carnival is clearly the leader. Other cruise lines simply cannot compete day in and day out on price and stay is business.

 

What you say here is true. But, the JD Powers survey was about customers' satisfaction after their cruise. And they did include price/cost in the survey, but considered it lightly, as they should. By the time you arrive at your ship you've already made the decision about what you're willing to pay. After the cruise is over, the individual then can decide if they satisfied that they got an equal, better, or worse value for their cruise. A person can pay $500 for a 7 day cruise and not feel they got their moneys worth. Yet another person can pay $1500 for 7day cruise to the same ports and feel like they robbed the cruise line.

I have sailed CCL, RCL, and NCL and have never felt like I paid more than the cruise was worth. But that doesn't mean other people feel the same way

BTW, where did you get the 53% figure. Most statistics (92%) are made up on the spot ( including this one ).

At 51%, it was more important than the other factors combined. Must be that new, new math.

 

The average price paid for a cruise that JD (is that short for Jack Daniels?) listed would indicate either not many Carnival cruises were represented or that other cruise lines are seriously overpriced. Probably both.

I concur that JD makes things up and then manipulates them to suit their sponsors. ;)

Check out episode 200 of cruise radio where they dismiss the jd powers survey. From what I hear many in the industry are dismissing this as a flawed survey.

But when they put cabins in this space they will add pax without adding public space so the ships won't just "feel" more crowded, they will BE more crowded.

 

This ship will be larger then dream class. With that said, I again repeat if the op is correct the atrium will not be much different then the dream class. The dream class has an atrium 3decks high. The same as the op says will be on the new build. The only difference will be the elevator shaft for the glass elevators will be removed. So not to many cabins would fit in that space. Many new ships have the same atrium that is only 3 decks high. So it must be an industry standard now.

One good thing about not having an atrium that extends to the moon is noise won't reverberate and echo through all of that empty, and unusable space.

A few yes, but the original post was about "open space" not adding cabins. I was responding to their post about not being able to use the space.

The whole cruise industry seems to think larger is better. I don't know of the big lines with plans to build smaller.

 

Economies of Scale my friend.

 

It's the main reason why the main cruise lines (CCL,RCL,NCL,Costa,MSC,etc) won't build much smaller. As time progresses the older tonnage for various reasons becomes much more expensive to keep operational. Cruise lines must maximize profit by building these larger more revenue generating vessels in order to stay competitive in their respective industry segment.

You are very much correct. Though I'm holding onto a tiny sliver of hope,that this mille project is the new design. Lol I read the article about it where this same design can be used for ships from 60,000 gt to over 200,000 gt. we all know how carnival likes to use one ship design over different classes. Deep down though I believe the days of smaller ships are gone for the major cruise lines.

I knew about the bubbles you mentioned, but didn't realize the Japan newbuilds will be LNG capable. That is the first I've heard of that.

Our inside on the Allure was almost the same size as an inside on CCL. However, I could see the importance of having more area in a cabin on CCL as you'll spend more time in it. It gives you a place to rest when you are tired of the long lines on the lido deck, the huge mobs of people on the promenade deck and pool area. Also, with a lack of entertainment and activities, you can sit in the room and watch the colorado feeds on the TV- wow!

We really didn't spend much time in our room as, along with the ports, we had a lot of shows to see, rode the flowrider, merry go round, attended the parades, got pics with dreamworks charactors, etc.

This new CCL ship looks like a continuation of CCL trying to cram more people into an old design, nothing at all innovative.

I remember when the sunshine came out, you said that the it would not be crowded, that CCL's cracker jack team of designers would make a crowded ship feel less crowded by adding 400 more people to it- yeah, we all know how that went.

 

Wow!! I would ride the merry go round all day:D Or maybe wait in line to get some photos with the dreamworks characters:D Couldn't miss the parades!! This sounds like my dream cruise:D Just think...in a year or so we can look forward to some bumper cars:D

Problem is your reliable source for the ships schedules turned out to be way off and not even close. So no thanks ,I will wait for actual facts before I make a decision.:mad:

Our balcony on the Allure was smaller than Carnivals. There were lines for everything on that ship. The food was average and the ship was way overrated and crowded. No thanks, being on the Allure for us was like being at a crowded shopping mall.

For those of you who have not heard yet, there has been some information unofficially released on Carnival's new 2016 ship. Here we go...

 

1. There will be no large Atrium - only 3 decks stopping at deck 5:

2. Deck 4 will have the Casino from the existing conference room to the Blush Dining Room as exists on Breeze;

3. Ship will be approximately 21 feet longer at bow and 30 feet at aft;

4. It will be the same width as the Dream Class;

5. There will be 3 pools (with a 1/2 in 1/2 out pool where the current Limelight Lounge is on the Breeze);

6. More cabins with a capacity of 5,100 persons (an increase of 400 persons from existing Breeze);

7. Cabins will be in existing empty space above deck 5 of Breeze Atrium;

8. Deck 5 will have a number of "specialty" restaurants (paid) with a variety of themes;

9. There will be a "Crew Serenity" area at bow of ship with same style chairs, hammocks etc. (no spa) like the existing Serenity areas on board Carnival ships;

10. It will be around 5,000 tons heavier than existing Dream Class (130,000) and will most likely be called Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Vista, or Carnival Splash, most likely Sunrise!

 

All of these are rumors that I have heard. Much of this will probably be true (reliable source) but some of it may not be true.

Saw something interesting on twitter. Gerry Cahill said it would be very different on the outside then the breeze. However will have many of the Breeze's interior spaces plus mane new ones. The interior decor will be based on the name vista like breeze decor is based on carribean breeze.

nice thanks for the post.

 

comments seem to indicate a larger shift, though i'm still skeptical with the potential of a change in terms of larger ship achitecture, vs. an only 3 yr old design, given the only 5k addition to grt. here's hoping it's mille, but time will tell.
