maggiekoolcruiser Posted August 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Hello everyone, My husband and I are booked for feb Eurodam Caribbean. I tend to dress very comfortable on vacations but don't want to clash with the HA dress code. Any advice on comfort/ acceptable attires on the ship ? YoHoHo Posted August 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Sorry I cannot answer your question but have a suggestion. There are two areas of the forums you may want to ask this question as well. You can access these boards from the top level page 'Community->Forums. then the individual sections. There is a section for 'fashion' and you may well get good advice and concrete suggestions. The other area is the cruise lines forum for Holland America. But before posting the question there I suggestion you do a search on dress code and review some of the other threads. Dress code is often discussed at length on some of the forums and you can get a wide range of opinions. On some of the boards it can get very heated and get mired in definitions, interpretations, qualifications and exceptions, stories, etc. Not saying that is what your response will be on the HAL board but reviewing other threads might answer your question. I drop by the HAL board once in a while as HAL runs quite a few cruises on the west coast which is convenient for us (minimizing the need for flying) and want to get an idea of what it would be like and policy changes. Enjoy your cruise.
Rare Scrapnana Posted August 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Dress code is one of those topics that often become very heated. Here is one of the least controversial on the HAL board. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1879942&highlight=dress+code These are the results of a search of "dress code" on the HAL forum. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=42234231 You will find women on formal nights in long gowns and men in tuxes. Not all will dress this way. If you have a little black dress add a scarf or pretty jewelry, you will be fine if you don't want to wear a long dress. A cocktail dress will also work. Daytime is casual. Here you can read what HAL has to say on the subject. Enjoy your cruise!
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Welcome to Cruise Critic. HAL has become less formal the last couple of years. Tuxedos are on the way out -- you will see few of them. Most men wear either a suite with tie or jackets with tie on formal nights. Ladies -- cocktail dresses on formal nights. Don't forget to try the Tamarind Restaurant for dinner -- $15 per person.
