Upgrade/Upsells

We will be going on our first Celebrity cruise in November in a cabin that we know we would be happy with (CC2). We were wondering if Celebrity contacts passengers to offer/sell upgrades. Not sure if we would be offered an opportunity but if not can we contact them for a sky suite availability and if so when would you think the best timing would be..... Thanking you all in advance for any information.

They generally don't contact you. If you booked via a travel agent all questions must be asked by that agent. If you booked directly yourself, you can call about an upsell. You could also ask once you you've checked in at the terminal. But be forewarned, ships are going out full

Also watch the pricing (even after final payment). If the prices drop you can likely upgrade (if not for new bookings only). You need to call your TA or X (whoever you booked with). You can pay the difference.

thank you so much everyone for your responses. Guess we will contact Celebrity when we hear of a price reduction to see what might open up. Other shipline contacts passengers to offer upgrades when the cabins do not fill up and prior to final sale. Great advise......

Upgrades come with a price. Rarely do you hear someone received one for free.

That's why is important to know the difference in price for each cat while you book your cruise and while checking for price reductions.

Upgrade could be the same price when you first booked your cabin, plus it could be in a less desirable location. ;)

We went from an AQ to a SS. The prices of both dropped drastically after final payment and, since they would not refund the difference, I was moved to a SS and they did refund the $60 difference. It was a nice treat. It pays to follow the fares.

We were booked in AQ for our upcoming October Med cruise. One week after final payment was due (and paid), we received an email from Celebrity offering us an upgrade to S1 for an additional $200 pp and still able to retain our 123 Go Promo. This was after we had changed from our booked AQ to a guaranteed AQ for $650 pp less (done one week before final payment - cabin assignment received the very next day for a cabin in a better location than originally booked). Net savings is $450 pp and we have the corner aft suite. Can't wait! Upgrade fairies do exist!

Wow that was an incredible offer, I do know that upgrade fairies do exist, was upgraded 2 times on HAL at no additional cost and took 2 upsells in the past which were moderately priced. It pays to monitor availability........ was not sure how this process was handled by Celebrity. Thank you everyone for your responses.

I rang celebrity direct after final payment date & asked availability for Concierge Class as I had noticed the prices had dropped. Good fortune was had as we now have a CC2 for the price paid for a 2D + £12..including tips! :D
