cs4225 Posted September 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2013 We will be on a Princess Coastal cruise with one of the stops being Seattle. Scheduled time will be from 7 am to 4 pm. We don't plan on taking any tours but we may want to spend the day around the Pike Place Market. Are there a lot of taxis when Seattle is a port of call? I've read the there are a lot when you disembark from Seattle. Another question is how do we get back from the Market to pier 91? Do we have to call or reserve a taxi or car service? CruiserBruce Posted September 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) If there is a ship in port, there will be taxis around. Taxis go to where the fares are. You won't have any problem finding a cab. Edited September 6, 2013 by CruiserBruce
rnargo Posted September 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2013 Whenever cruise ships come in, taxis are all lined up waiting for their turn to pick up a fare. As long as you stay in Downtown you shouldn't have an issue getting finding a taxi back. If for some reason you do, you can always call one. Yellow cab's # is 206.622.6500. Hope that helps! JohninDC Posted June 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2014 We waited 45+ minutes for a cab at pier 91 last Friday - 2 ships in port at the same time (RCI & Celebrity) and some sort of traffic issue on the highway slowing down cabs; on our way to the airport the driver mentioned a message just received calling for 70 more taxis for the pier. Yuck!
cs4225 Posted June 17, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted June 17, 2014 I started this thread last year. While on the cruise I checked out the Excursion Desk and they were offering a bus transfer from the pier to a place near 5th and Pine. It was a short walk to the Pike Place Market so we never needed a taxi.
Putterdude Posted June 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2014 If you wait until the lines dissipate at bit there will be lots of cabs...my experience at Pier 91 when the crush is on....it can be more than 30 mins and in the rain it's not a lot of fun.
