With no current "live" reports - let's relive our favorite cruise moment!

Next cruise is in about two months, and without any current "live" reports to distract me from the countdown clock, I'm thinking it may be fun to relive some of our favorite on-board memories.

Who's with me? Let's share our memory, roughly when it was, which ship, etc. Submit a photo if you have one. Let's keep it PG. :)

My favorite recent memory is from the Vision of the Seas earlier this year when we cruised the Baltics when I was lying in the bed of our Grand Suite watching the Swedish Archipelago pass by. For those that haven't seen a Grand Suite on the Vision class, the wall of windows provides amazing views - favorite Grand Suite yet!

2009 The Celebrity Solstice our first cruise. My mom had passed away in '06 she never got to experience cruising. Her wish was that we may.

She left a little money for we three adult children. So two of us decided to take our spouses on the cruise. On Day 2 in the morning I woke with an overwhelming feeling that I was to get up and, open the balcony drapes.

When I did centered, in full view was my first Caribbean Island!

It was so surreal and comforting to me.

SO many memories! Here's the first thing that came to mind. (FYI will be blogging live in November!!) Was just about to post a whale pic from Alaska when I re-read your post and it says on board memories.....

Start over.

March 2013. Freedom of the Seas. My BFF (met her on CC) was cruising with her family. She lives in VA and I live in the UK. I had booked the cruise without her knowing... embarkation day.... I know her routine so well on Day 1 so I boarded later than her and headed straight to my room. I had a package that I wanted delivered to her at the pool bar.... I got into a lift to head up to the pool deck..... the doors opened on deck 8..... and she's standing there.... her room isn't on this deck! She sees me.... disbelief.... confusion.... and there's nowhere for me to hide.

Priceless. It's all in the blog in my sig.

Even after 10 years cruising and a bunch of cruises, one can still experience surprises. On the last port of our cruise 2 weeks ago as we approached Ketchikan, I woke as usual, pretty early, around 5:30 am, opened the curtains and saw this:

It was a magical moment, especially when you expect to see rain as this port is the wettest city in the United States. I'll never forget this sunrise, so far it is the most spectacular of the many I have witnessed at sea.:)

On the Carnival Paradise the year it first sailed. An obnoxious and rude couple with a baby traveling with her Mother and Father. They were rude and demanding everywhere you seen them. Well the last night of the cruise they had went to the photo gallery and picked out all these photos. Lots of them. We were outside on the promenade deck and here they come pushing that blasted huge stroller (they always took that dang stroller to the dining room also) with baby and all their extra stuff. Mother and daughter standing in the middle of the deck blocking everyone's way while admiring their newly purchased photos. They laid the photos on top of the stroller while chatting and still blocking the path. Like a breath from the heavens a great big gust of wind picked up the photos and they went flying. No one came to their rescue. All but two photos went overboard. This was back in the day before digital. No replacing them. Isn't karma grand.

Well with 7 cruises under our belt the most memorable was definitely our 2003 Legend of the Seas cruise to Hawaii. After 4 sea days going from Ensenada (San Diego) to Hilo you are ready to get off the ship, well we wake up expecting to be docking, instead we see Hilo passing as we keep motoring. Just then the captain makes an announcement that the ship has had "Threats" against it and we would be going directly to Honolulu(our last port) so Homeland security and the FBI could board. Well after that it actually was very interesting going through all the things the FBI and HL security needed to do to clear the ship. We stayed out in Honolulu Harbor not docked (for saftey reasons) for a day.

We were cleared to leave at some point during the middle of the night and found ourselves outside Kona the next morning ready to tender around 8am. We were going to be the 3rd tender over, just then the captain comes over the loud speaker again and says there has been a second letter found and they have to halt tender operations and bring back the 2 tenders that had already left. Needless to say people were pissed!! It was cleared up by noon and we got off the ship and enjoyed the rest of the cruise... It was certainly a cruise we will never forget. Here are a few pics....

The 2 letters that were found, typed up for the news..

Our first cruise was a repo on Grandeur five years ago, and one of the formal nights happened to fall on Halloween. Walking around the ship all decked out for the holiday and seeing everyone dressed in some impressively elaborate costumes will always be one of the highlights of our cruising lives.

On our Alaska cruise out of Vancouver. My mother had not realized that the sun does not set much in mid June in Alaska before we got out there. She was so fascinated by this she refused to close the drapes, leaving my sister and I terribly sleep deprived all week. On the final night, we had enough. well my mother had brought us ice cream, after we had just gotten ice cream, so we had tons of melted ice cream all over from our lack of communication. Somewhere around "dawn" (2am) my mom go up to open the drapes and look outside. my sister is NOT a morning person and threw a melted cup of ice cream at her. my mom thew one back at my sister. a food fight followed by pillow fight ensued. I was safe and out of the fray in the top bunk, until my mom chucked a container of ice at my sister and hit me instead. It was all in good fun, no hard feelings. Yes, we cleaned our mess, and left an extra tip for the room attendant too.

My husband packed the pair of pants he was to wear off the ship at the end of cruise. Guest relations didn't have any in lost and found. Long story short, a friend of ours went door to door on her deck and found someone with an extra pair of pants. They were sweat pants and a little short and tight, but at least it got him off the ship without too much embarrassment.:o I'm sure it will never happen again. And yes, we washed the pants and sent them back to the donor with a big THANK YOU.....

Not a favorite moment, but the most memorable one for sure.:p

After 13 cruises, there are 2 special moments that always come to mind:

1) It was 1994, we were sailing on Sovereign OTS for our very first cruise. In those days, she was considered the largest and most innovative ship afloat. I will never forget the moment we stepped onto the ship, I looked around and was in total awe of what I saw. And I was hooked.

2) Cruising through the locks of the Panama Canal, Brilliance OTS, helipad at 6 a.m. and looking at my husband's face. He's an engineer and was desperately trying to contain his excitement at what we were seeing. The little boy in him was jumping up and down. It was a great moment.

And so many more......
