NCL Escape

If Epic does the Canary run in the winter, its going to be a very empty ship. There isn't the demand out of Barcelona......most of the passengers are from the UK.

Now if they homeported out of Southampton or Dover, they would have a chance of filling the ship.

Seems interesting but I don't think year round from England will happen. Europe does have cheap flight options and with some good advertising and work with holiday companies I am sure they can full the epic.

Epic's draft is only 2.5 feet more than Spirit's (28.5 ft vs 26 ft). Depth wise pretty much where ever Spirit can dock, Epic can too.
Mmmm....Interesting! I tought Epic required much deeper port! :o Was interested in that itianary, with a small ship, but not sure with the Epic. But if Jade and Spirit are out of Europe, who would do the Greek Islands and also the Croatia/Venise run? MMmm...I so love to speculate! Can't wait to know for sure! About the Panama Canal? With the New larger Canal opening, would it be large enough for Escape to Go Alaska in Summer?

They Will be 50 per cent less canary cruise than now and 50 per cent less western med cruise than now ,plus the epic capacity is less than Spirit and jade capacity so i think epic Will be full

Epic Will do 10 days canary cruise from Barcelone ( Spirit route)

And 11 days western med from Barcelone ( jade route )

How about a 2 ship back-to-back?

Run Escape from SanFran to Hawaii, for a transfer to POA.

Pickup the people from last week's POA & return them home to SanFran.

That would be fun. Casino on the way there, islands, then casino back. :)

I would take it, anything that brings me home to Hawaii in always able, who knows could work ... we will all just keep wondering

Having only one NCL ship in the med would be really disappointing - especially after winning as favorite cruise line for Europe.

Until they officially announce Jade moving from Europe, I do find that rumour really hard to believe to actually happen - for the reasons stated above and also because NCL is doing great in Europe.

You recently posted on the NCL Sun Roll Call for the Oct 11-26, 2014 Panama Canal sailing from LA to Tampa.

Could you post your first names if you want to join the Roll Call OR let us know if you had just stopped by to visit?

Thanks for your assist and Happy New Year

My PCC confirmed at the weekend that Epic was wintering 2015/16 in Europe which conveniently frees up the Sunday Miami slot the exact time Escape is launched.

Unfortunately NCL tends to limit most cruise lengths to 1 week (presumably for the US shortened vacation allowances) so there is limited range of itinerary options.

NCL has not even confirmed the Escape is coming to Miami yet. Itineraries are at least 6 months away maybe longer.

I was thinking that they were waiting to reveal the Escape Itinary to announce the rest of the itinaries for all other ship for winter 2015/2016.

If they wait 6 months to announce the Escape's do you all think they will also wait 6 months to announce the rest of the itinaries?

They are really late this year!

They are not late this year. They usually release in December the winter spring and then the summer fall in spring or early summer.

  • 1 month later...

It has been announced on the Norwegian Sky that the Escape will be porting in Port Canaveral...The paper in Brevard County this morning is welcoming Norwegian back in 2015....with no mention of the ship...since I live 30 miles from there it will make me very happy...

Escape's homeport has not been announced anywhere - let alone on another ship. NCL is going to announce Escape's homeport next month (Cruise Shipping Miami convention will be held March 10-13 in Miami Beach) and according to the news articles already late last year, NCL has already made a three-year marketing deal with POM for a new ship arriving 2015.

NCL might be placing a ship in Port Canaveral in 2015 but I highly doubt that it'd be Escape.

No official announcement the city of Miami approved millions to promote the Escape when it in fact comes to Miami in 2015 and the Epic leaves for year round service in Europe. 90% certain she will join the Getaway in Miami.

You have a lot of NCL experience, so I'd like to know what's your best guess for NCL to designate a ship sailing out of Australia? And best guess for which one?

...but it doesn't look they're going to add another deck solely for entertainment or dining venues.

Some basic deck plans are now available it DOES look like deck 5 has at least some extra space set aside for some public rooms/dining.

Existing public spaces could be enlarged, some lost, and some re-themed. For example we do not know that Breakaway+ will have an Ice Bar and Spiegel Tent. The link below provides an analysis:

Yes, they've set aside ~40% of Deck 5 for some public space (I'm betting on a large indoor lounge, something sorely lacking on the current Breakaway and Getaway). However, it's still not the "entire additional deck" that Sheehan promised us earlier. Oh well, something is better than nothing.

I don't think that Sheehan ever promised "entire additional deck" of public space. There will be "entire additional deck" of cabins already.

In the past he had said at times addition and at others partial (sometimes within the same quote!). I guess now we know what he really meant.

I'd estimate that it is more like 25%. The rear section is a technical space on Breakaway so it probably is on Escape.

From your post to the eyes and ears at NCL. I hopped back on boards to read about the future Esacpe and saw your post about San Francisco. Just a hop and skip for us...boy would we cruise more!

I'm afraid that one-way itineraries between San Francisco and Honolulu would violate the PVSA. A nice idea, but it cannot be done.
