CAS Comp Cruise

On the BA, the Spa Suite also comes with spa access, which I wouldn't have otherwise.

Stephen.

Stephen,

As CAS Golden you DO get 2 SPA DAYS on the BA for a 7 day cruise.

As VIP you get 5 SPA DAYS for a 7 day cruise.

It says, "Complimentary Spa Access for Two" on the website and I know for a fact as I was on the BA in an aft Mini Suite in June.

It does not matter what type of room you have as long as you are Golden or VIP.

See your casino host to let the Spa know...then go there to set up your free days!

Again, this is only for ships with this type of spa....which the BA does have!

I don't care if the suite perks involve the captain following you around the ship and acting as your personal errand boy.

There's no way that the majority of suite passengers are booking them instead of inside/balcony rooms primarily for the perks.

The perks might keep passengers coming back to NCL suites rather than other competing cruise lines, but to say that the majority of people buying suites (especially the nicest ones) are doing so for the perks and not the room is just laughable. I don't have to know any details about NCL specifically to safely say that.

If they sold inside cabins with suite perks and made them just a little bit cheaper than suites, how many do you think would sell? I'm guessing about zero.

The suite perks are absolutely the only reason I book suites on NCL. The room itself, while lovely, has very little to do with it. And I believe adding the perks to inside cabins for less money would likely sell like hotcakes; however, I would in no way support that as it would dilute the service levels and benefit. (See complaints from platinums and diamonds about Carnival's Faster To The Fun.) I'm not trying in the least to be argumentative, but it seems as if you're speaking rather a lot in absolutes before you've sailed on NCL or experienced the suites. Come on over, check it out and you'll soon learn to appreciate NCL's suite life. :)

Thanks Harriet, I totally forgot about that. I was even lucky enough that due to a minor embarkation screw-up, the host (who I knew), gave me (travelling solo), 2 x the 2 days....so I had spa access the 4 days I had time to go.

Given that we're in an S9 next cruise, I wasn't worried about it, but good to remember for our Sept. cruise when we only have an SJ.

thanks!

Stephen

You don't know me Robin, but I have followed your post regarding CAS for some time. I must thank you for the informative posts in regards to CAS. You are extremely spot on.

When you thanked Stephen earlier, my thought was you must have been biting your tongue as to all the misformation. I know I have been sitting here thinking that a lot of misinformation is being dished out to people who do not know it is wrong.

My first cruise with NCL was a free cruise for an ocean view through Resorts Casino. So I know from personal experience that not all free offers are for inside cabins. I also upgraded to a balcony.

The perks or comps are exceptional through CAS. Between being platinum and Golden I find it very difficult to spend money on the ship since all my charges are picked up by the casino except the service charges. Plus. thanks to the CAS I do not have to book a suite, since as VIP I can be in an inside and still have breakfast and lunch at Cagney's, etc.

I usually lurk and not comment since do not wish to be flamed, but felt compelled to thank you and Stephen for correcting the record.

You cleared up lots of questions I have had for a long time. I am an avid Blackjack player many times comped in Vegas and AC and never played on a cruise ship. It seems only logical that the odds will be worse since its a captive audience and resembles shooting fish in a barrel. Not to say its not fun and if you enjoy it go ahead. The entire CAS system seems like a "black hole" to me with lots of variables and virtually impossible to compare offers unless you are familiar with players' action. Thanks for answering in such an easy way. :)

I hope you have read this entire thread so you know that most of the information that PokerPro5 is promoting does not apply to the CAS program which he is totally unfamiliar with since he has never sailed on NCL.

Going on my first CAS "free" cruise in December on the BA, with hubby, and our 2 kids. Booked this back in July, was able to snag a IC inside room. Wasn't planning on cruising again, but couldn't turn down the offer.

I too, have been noticing how cheap my cruise is becoming, especially with the kids sail free promo. I called NCL and was told, rates apply to new bookings only. Called CAS, and was offered the $600 extra to upgrade to a balcony. That was the best they could do, period.

Yes, I was past final payment, and didn't think much could be done. Felt jealous, hearing other members getting an upgrade for for super cheap.

Had my husband call corporate, found the #here on the boards! and he refused to take no as an answer. We were able to upgrade to a B2 family balcony for only $200 more. Was able to keep the CAS perks too, really only care about the drink card in the casino. Super excited!

Love CC, wouldn't have even known to try, but did thanks to hearing others' success stories.

Thank you. Is there a certain person/dept?

using Forums mobile app[

Not sure who he spoke to directly, but she had to call him the next day after she got her managers approval.

If you're traveling with kids, the kids sail free ended on the 8th, I think, so might not get such great rates if you did a mock booking today vs yesterday.

I just wanted to echo Robin and Stephen. I'm what would be considered a low-roller. I play$5-$15 bets on UTH, LIR and 3 card poker. I play a lot though, many hours are spent in the casino because I enjoy it. My friend and I just returned from a 12 day transatlantic and decided we needed a getaway to ease our post-cruise depression. Ist call to CAS offered us an ocean view cabin. Next day the call yielded an offer of an SE aft one bedroom suite full comp. I'm only "Hot" in the CAS program and my friend I'm traveling with just completed her very first NCL cruise.

Those are pretty great comps. My last cruise was 20% off of a Garden Villa, so saved thousands and used those dollars in the casino the way that Stephen does.

When I spent 4 days at the Hard Rock casino in Fort Lauderdale, someone suggested that I ask the host if I qualified for a comp of any sort. I was told "I can get you a hot dog at the food court". Their minimums are far higher too, and I spent more time than I should have playing $15 and $25 bets there. ROE for CAS is far better, at least for me.

When I travel on other lines, I do not get suites any longer. I find they are just a larger cabin and a few frills, but I always get a suite on NCL when I travel with my family.

Another thing to note here is that the CAS offer means that you can travel solo for the price of one set of port charges, taxes and NCF. It eliminates the single supplement, so if you like to cruise alone, it saves you even more money.

Why have I never thought of THIS??? Oh, eureka. Time for me to go plan a little solo getaway...

They are so awesome, Barbara :) My last cruise was with people I met on the one the year before where I was on my own. In December last year I took a last minute CAS offer to join a couple that was traveling, and I got my own cabin.

That's the beauty of the cruise ship casino, so many happy people, totally different than the land based ones. I've never cruised and not met great people in the casino. You are never lonely and only alone when you want to be.

I hear there are a couple of really fun girls on the Sky November 22nd :)

Is my understanding correct that if you are sailing on any ship other than the Epic or the Breakaway and you are CAS Golden or VIP that you get breakfast and lunch at Cagney's even if not a suite guest? We are sailing on the Star soon and I just got off the phone w/ a CAS rep and asked her about this. She had put me on hold and checked with her "manager" and "director" and was told that only suite guests get this perk. I guess it just depends upon the ship, concierge and/or casino host. Not sure.

@Peg013

Please refocus your energy towards something meaningful rather than sucking the fun out of reading these posts. It seems as if you are personally insulted. So what if he has never sailed NCL before! I found his experience and advice fascinating. Janet

Two things.

1 - This thread is from November.

2 - the post that "jmccon2" is referring to is #84 - if you are interested.
