Carnival Fantasy Out of SC...Need help

See, I'm no balcony snob, either. Is a balcony nice? Sure! But - again - I'd much rather cruise three times a year in a nice, dark, inside cabin than sail once in a balcony.

When you mostly sail solo, on a budget, it simply is a waste of money, imho. There's plenty of "free" deck space on the ships.

For short cruises, or longer cruises that are port intensive, I simply prefer to spend my money on other things - wine, exploring ports, or in the casino.

I've sailed Glory twice. Liked her more than I expected. But given my earlier statements, yes, I'd probably pick Fantasy. I "know" people on that ship. It's like returning home every time I board.

A 185 sq ft inside cabin is the same on any ship. The Serenity Deck was more crowded and louder on Glory than even on Fantasy.

Sure, I'd love Fish & Chips for lunch every day on Glory, but I'm perfectly happy with Turkey & Swiss on a roll every day on Fantasy! :D

Yes, I know about and understand space ratios, too.

Honestly, I'd sail a Spirit-class ship any day over any of the others if I could. But I'm not driving to Bmore to pay more to "only" get to the Bahamas. I probably will book the 2nd leg of the Pride repo next December.

I just like the "feel" of a smaller ship.

I wouldn't consider myself a balcony snob. I've sailed twice: once it was just my husband and myself and we had a inside cabin and it didn't bother me one bit because I was never in there. BUT when I travel with my children I know I will be spending more time in my room. I couldn't imagine sitting in my inside cabin while the kids nap and not have the awesome view the balcony will provide. It will be nice for me to relax out there with drinks while they sleep - so when traveling with kids it is worth the extra $$ for me to enjoy it!

On Fantasy you have to book a suite to get a balcony.

And my understanding is that the Junior Suites on the Fantasy class ships are closer to a regular balcony on any other class of ship than a suite.

Some of the Fantasy class ships like Fascination and Ecstasy(?) had balconies added in dry dock.

Can y'all tell me alittle about the Fantasy? The good bad and ugly...

We have been on Freedom Valor and the Dream. How does she. Com pair to them. We wanted to go non the Breeze but air flight is yo much and we can drive to SC.

I know any cruise is better than no cruise but will we be let down by the Fantasy? Thanks 2.0 upgrades?

It depends on what you like on a cruise. I like the intimacy of the smaller ships. You may not.

This recent review may help you decide. I found it amusing as well as accurate as to what the Fantasy is all about.

we are taking our second cruise on the fantasy this dec, we have cruised the fascination and sensation plenty of times

same class of ship the fantasy class actually, its carnivals oldest ship now but seemed well maintained on our first cruise on it

we did a 6 day nas, freep, key west the first time and this cruise is nas, hmc and grand turk so we know what to expect

and I expect our room to be clean and well maintained, we have a verandah suite for this cruise, it had better be clean, keep ice in the bucket and my cooler - or else!

we will try and squeeze in a couple three comedy shows and maybe one or two show shows, Fantasy has half the size comedy club of the FASC or sensation so you gotta get there early OR on this 7 day cruise, just wait till everyone is tired of the comics

I have noticed, on the last few cruises of say a 5 day length you get stuck with the same comics the whole cruise it seems.

when the comedy thing got started we saw them switch comedians regularly in Nassau or Freeport each crusie so you'd get 3 or even 4 different comics even on a 5 day deal....maybe on this 7 we will swap comics on the last two nights since we hit Nassau late in the cruise

I have been on liberty which we loved and dream which we didn't!

so, as long as you have reasonable expectations you will have fun I think
