Just got back from 3 day disney 11/14-11/17 dream

loved it except for animators palate

we havent gone on disney cruise for 10 years

living near the port we went on several wonder, magic cruises

back then the one thing everyone talked about was anim palate

(caution dont read further may ruin a surprise) the old restaurant

the room was black and white ..and gradually turned to full color

during the course of the meal...the kids learned about animation

going from pencil drawings to full color animation...the meal was

more synchronized even the waiters shirts turned colored ..the dessert

was so special an artist palette with different sweets

...the new was nemo swimming around talking to the

kids and that was it...room looked like updated from old idea

but nothing about animation...the room was so noisy

the waiters were cramped and dropping trays which they carred 14

heavy plates with covers over and around people

food was uneventful told head waiter he wasnt sure if old theme

is still on wonder and magic..does anyone know about this?!

Other dining rooms elegant and enchanting with no noise

if your are choosing wihch room to substitute with palo or remy

(adult only) choose anim palate..you wont know which day

you have which restaurant till you get on board..but then

they will tell you were to go to pick a nite for palos(or remy more expensive)

Admittedly our first and only DCL, but our Dream was a spectacular surprise and we definitely loved AP the best of all the restaurants. We loved the food and we absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVED Crush. We had tried to hop to EP to see Turtle Talk and had no time, and this was a perfect surprise.

Crush is awesome. AP was great for us.

Looking forward to AP on 'new' Magic in May!

Nemo swam around talking on your AP night? Cool; we have only had Crush talking. But he didn't just talk to kids; he talked to tables of people that we noticed. Both times we have been at AP on the Dream we haven't had a table close to one of those screens, so we just observe.

I love watching Bruce the shark lurking; if you look through the dining room you can watch his progress from one screen to the next. It's pretty cool.

I think the old style would be cool, but not cool enough for me to go on the Wonder; I definitely am hooked on the Dream for now.

Having been on three of the ships (Magic, Wonder, and Dream) I like both Animator's Palate spaces. On the classic ships the black/white decor going to color is fun. I loved AP on the Dream. As someone else said it had so many knick-knacks around for a Disney junkie. Of course part of the enjoyment could be that we were right next to the screen and "Crush" interacted with us carrying on a conversation he had the night before with the late seating part of our group. It was great fun! I look forward to seeing AP on the updated Magic when we sail next year.

I too liked the old "Color" show on the Magic in Animator's Pallette.

I was just on the Fantasy, and am not a fan of the Crush show. The noise level just gets so loud in there. But, that being said, I loved the secong night of Animator's pallet where they played clips of Disney movies, and everyone draws a picture on the placemats for a show later in the evening. That was what I saw as the essence of animation.

The food was great, and I do love all the decor and Disney/Pixar items in the room.

Thank you for your email.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your Cruise Critic review of

your recent voyage aboard the Disney Dream. I was so very sorry to hear

you didn't enjoy Undersea Magic with characters from Pixar's Finding

Nemo, as this has been a favorite of many of our guests. The Disney

Magic and Disney Wonder do still offer the Drawn to Magic show as the

signature entertainment in their Animator's Palate restaurant. We hope

you understand that our guests have told us that they are looking for

new experiences and we have tried to provide this in elements that are

unique to each of our ships.

I truly regret any disappointment and hope we will have another chance

to entertain you in the future.

Sincerely,

AP on Dream was the dining experience of our cruise...

A lot of things are subjective. For instance, we basically found Villains (especially the opening) to be offensive but some don't care about underworld garbage. We absolutely love love loved Family Karaoke in the DLounge but that wouldn't make everyone's trip like it did ours. Disney works super hard to try and make something special for everyone and that covers a lot of opinions and tastes...

I liked the old show when it was on Magic, but once we went on the Fantasy and saw the new space I was blown away. Look for the little touches during the meal around the room (and on the floor). ;)

I will say though, that this is the most noise I've ever heard on a Disney ship. I'm included the pool area too. My husband and I just decided to look around and enjoy the shows because we couldn't hear a single thing the other said. The Crush show is okay, but I think I would like the old show instead. Nothing compares to the Animation (drawing) show though. Must do.

I wish our "drawing" night would have been scheduled differently though. We were there during Formal Night, Pirate Night (w/fireworks), AND Valentines Day. Wow! It's really hard to look like a Pirate on Formal Night.

I also didn't appreciate the Crush AP show. I haven't seen the original show but hope on the Wonder soon. It was just way too much noise and we weren't sitting close to a screen. If I'm on a ship again with the Crush show, I'll absolutely skip it.

I am looking forward to AP on the Wonder in October and hope it doesn't change between now and then.

On the Dream we found AP to be too loud and obnoxious. I did comment to the table that I really wanted one of the cm's shirts from Animator's Palate, but that is about all I liked there. We are all hoping for a more quiet and relaxed AP on the Wonder.
