Happy New year!! I have been wanting to do a B2B for SO long...and actually just added on to a existing reservation to get my first B2B However since it was not done together and at somewhat last minute I could not get the same cabin (or similar ..so its aft to aft still) but I have to change...I also become D+ after first leg.... did I take on too much, or will this be a somewhat smooth transition?? What do I need to do??

THANK YOU

I did a B2B and went from a suite to a balcony room on a different floor and the transition couldn't have been easier.

The first cabin attendant notified the second who made up my new cabin first on turn around day. At 9am I dressed, packed incidentals and my cabin steward took all clothes on hangers and in 10 min I was settled in my new cabin.

Tip: Get breakfast first, no food service till noon when WJ opens! :p

Not much to do. If you haven't done it already, confirm that your bookings are linked as consecutive cruises by calling whoever booked your cruises.

See the LA during the first cruise to get D+ perks on the second cruise. I also visit Guest Services during the first cruise to confirm they have us listed as consecutive cruisers. I'd also confirm the second cruise with both stateroom attendants before the end of the first cruise.

I did B2B on the Allure in Jan '12. Towards the end of the first cruise we were invited to a meeting where they told us what to expect. There was a Q&A session afterwards too.

I'd strongly recommend this meeting as you get chance to reserve shows/restaurants for the next week.

As for meals, we were all invited to a special lunch in the main dining room on transfer day.

Just finished a B2B on the Liberty and the concierge told us we didn't have enough people to do the special lunch (Their were about 25 of us). Also our cabin attendant on the first cruise was less than stellar as he said he only had a flat trolley and we would have to pack everything on hangers. This from the same person who when asked if we could get a robe told us that only Diamond members received robes now. Fortunately our steward on the second cruise was one of the best we have had.

Very well said here... you'll have your luggage packed and it will be in your new room no problem at all.

My experience is to get off the ship with everyone else to enjoy your day wherever your port is. I had an extremely negative experience recently in Miami... the issue was that there were cruisers "missing" from their manifest of leaving the ship. B2b'ers were basically "detained" from moving anywhere! This was not an RCL issue but a Homeland Security at the port.

We were stuck. They need what's called a "zero count", which means everyone is accounted for. If they don't get that, you will not be allowed to roam around on the ship, you'll be stuck in the lounge/centrum/theatre/wherever you're meeting point is... you will also not be allowed back to you're room even if you have the same room. We were stuck in a dank concrete hallway down in the Miami customs area for 2 hours, there were a few very unhappy people and one woman with medical issues who didn't think this would happen from previous B2Bs and needed her medication.

Had we left to enjoy a day ashore, we get off with everyone else and come back when we want (well, after 11am when embarkation begins)... we already have our new seapass card, and we quickly get led through security, past the embarkation process and up to the ship :)) We did this in Colon... entered the port door and were whisked up the gangway within a couple of minutes ahead of all the line-ups.

Enjoy! :)

You will be escorted off the ship in between cruises to go through customs and then be the first to reboard after customs has cleared the ship.

B2B is the best. Enjoy!!

Not necessarily. Last week on the Liberty we were escorted to customs and had to wait for all the regular passengers to clear before they cleared us. By that time they had already started boarding other passengers. I do like the ships where you get back on and have the ship to yourself for an hour or so but it didn't work out that way last week unfortunately.
