Wine With Dinner?

Recommended Posts

Hi, does anyone know if you can order wine by the glass in the dinning room?

I will bring my own for the cabin but will order in the dinning room.

Also, someone posted the wine list once, I should have copied the list to take to my wine store. I would like to try some of the selections just to know what I will like. I am NOT a wine snob, but, I know what I like. If someone has that list will you please post it again?

Thanks

Yes – you can order by the glass but the selection is better by the bottle. If you order a bottle and just want a glass each evening – your wait staff will hold the bottle for you and bring it to the table each evening.

Sorry - I do not have a wine list.

Cheers

Marci

I was going to suggest buying a bottle and having the waiter recork it for you - you'll have a much larger selection, and if, like us, one of you prefers red & the other white, a bottle for each of you will last about 3 days.

The wine list is available on RCCL's website. I think it's in the "before you board" tab, in the gift shop section.

We cruised on the VOS....July 1-10, 2005 to the Western Caribbean....

I like wine...I brought on the "Black Boxes" for my balcony pleasure..I compared the wine package for my sole purposes. My DH does not drink. There are a variety of wines offered by the glass...I drank mostly chardonay....the house brand was "La terre" for $5.50..plus $.83 tip added for each glass ..total $6.33 or Stone Cellars for $6.50 with an automatic $.98 gratuity for a total of $7.48. There were other more sophisticated vintages...I have simple tastes. I purchased the wine package of 5 bottles($113) for a 9 night cruise. The Stone Cellars was a good enough chardonay for me. I could also chose a Villages Boujalais. Both of those choices were also on the first and second level wine packages, The last night I could choose a bottle of Korbel Sparkling Brut to share with my table. I drink 2-3 glasses of wine per meal. This was a perfect. I drank half the bottle per meal. My bottle was saved meal to meal. I had a great cruise with wine!

The above red is a very nice Rioja which is available by the bottle at about $30 or part of the gold package at $270 for 10 bottles.

It can be purchassed for 3 Euros in Spanish ports and taken on board and drunk in the dinning room for a corkage charge of $5, I only got charged corkage on two bottles out of the twelve I purchassed in ports and took to the Dinning room saving approx $220 and drinking a similar or better standard wine.

Purchase in the ports and pay corkage do not pay the on board prices especially on Mediterean Cruises

Thanks Tonyo! Sounds like the "by the glass idea" is a little too pricy. I too drink 2-3 glasses with a meal (especialy a 2hour meal) and I would do beter to get the bottle or the package.

Thanks also to Warrior Planner, I WILL enjoy trying all the wines on the list that I can get to before December, shouldn't take me too long! I have tried the Semillon-Chardonnay, it was on the recomendation of my wine store. I really enjoyed it. Since it is a blend, I wasn't sure it would be to my liking. I was very surprised! I am on the Adkins diet so I don't know about the carb content in the blend. It shouldn't be much though.

Thanks to all for your help.
