bigguy6 Posted January 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2014 We are sailing on the Emerald Princess in March. We really don't want to bring clothes for the formal nights. I know, on formal nights, you don't have to dress up for the buffet, but can you wear smart casual attire to the specialty restaurants on those nights. Sorry, not interested in peoples opinions on this, just what is the policy.

Pam in CA Posted January 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2014 The "policy" and what the vast majority of passengers wear is formal or semi-formal on formal nights. You'll find it on the Princess website of what to bring. A few (very few) choose not to dress up and it's up to the Maitre d' whether to allow them into the dining room or not. You probably won't be turned away but there's a chance you will. You'll also be in a very small minority so it's up to you whether you're comfortable with that. You can dress smart casual in the specialty restaurants, buffet, etc. but even in the specialty restaurants, I've seen people very dressed up and felt out of place in smart casual. :) Pam
Skai Posted January 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2014 No issues in the specialty restaurants. The suggested dress is smart-casual, even on formal night. (Dressed as 'smart-casual') We've never felt out-of-place or under-dressed by not wearing a tux/dinner jacket cocktail/dinner dress in the specialty restaurants on formal nights.
