Great Times on Indy! ~ A Big Review With Lots of Pics!

Recommended Posts

Day 3, At Sea:

Amazingly, day three started without a hangover. We partook of the salad bar in the main dining room for lunch/breakfast and meandered about the ship for awhile into the early afternoon. I stopped in to chat with some fellow CC'ers up on the pool deck a few times and also managed to get a workout in. The sauna was broken for the second day in a row (boo!), but the steam room was working (yay!).

A quick dip in one of the cantilevered hot tubs in the Solarium suddenly became a problem when I got back to the cabin only to find that I had no Seapass. Oops. I went back upstairs and the nice folks in the hot tub said they found it and gave it to the pool attendant. The pool attendants were of little help though, as they managed to re-lose it in those five minutes. Fortunately Raj, the amazingly awesome concierge, was able to print me a new one in just a few seconds.

Not really a part of my review, but the St. Tropez area above the Solarium (basically the roof of the spa) seems like it would be a quiet place to sit in the sun or read. It didn't seem like many people knew it was there.

Just an fyi, but the sauna was not working the week before as well.

That's a shame, they really need to get on top of that. I'm not sure if there's any bona-fide benefit from it, but some time in the sauna makes me feel better after a night of drinking. ;)

I love it up there. It is one of my favorite places to spend some quiet deck time.

Great review so far!! It's making us get really excited about getting on the Indy in 10 days!! Can't wait to get away from this crazy cold and snow!

Can you confirm whether or not the Indy had the luggage valet service?

Thanks much!

Sorry, I can't, we didn't use it or ask about it.

I guess I'll go ahead and finish off the pool deck:

The Squeeze Bar by the H2O Zone, they have juices as well as adult beverages. Plus they have sausage dogs with freshly baked cheese roll buns for lunch on sea days.

Thanks for taking the time to post this! We are deciding between an Indy 8-night or Allure 7-night in December. Been on both and have some concerns due to some of the recent reviews about the Indy "vibe". I really do love the Indy itinerary and the extra night is such a bonus:)

Grady I will be on the Indy in March and I am really enjoying your pictures and review. I really looks wonderful. Wilda posted about the Indy "vibe", do you know what that is referring to?

Probably one of the best ideas that I've ever seen on a cruise ship. It's just a little self-contained pool area for parents with babies. I find it a little gross when folks bring their diapered infants and toddlers into a public pool. This (more or less) solves the problem.

Thankfully the ship's name plaque survived the addition of the big acreen, they just moved it back to the H20 Zone

The Sprinkles ice cream kiosk. Don't get your hopes up, there are no sprinkles (or toppings of any kind) to be found.

I can only assume the "Indy vibe" is referring to her being partially setup for her six months cruising out of the UK.

Her shops are different and have a lot of merchandise tailored to Europeans like loose tobacco for hand rolling (first time I've ever seen that on a ship), European food and candies, and odd cigarette brands we don't have in the US.

There are about three dozen types of tea available next to the coffee pots. Many of the officers and CD staff are British. The ice show (Strings) features a lot of classical music and has a Euro feel to it.

Oh, and one other odd thing: NO MUDLSIDE COOKIES in the Promenade Cafe! I don't know if that is poor planning or because they aren't popular across the pond, but we were very disappointed about it.

Day 3, Continued:

We had some pre dinner drinks in the Concierge/Diamond Lounge before hitting the main dining room. Our serving team just could not have been any better. After a very slow experience on Brilliance last month, I was blown away by how fast our servers got us through dinner. We were sat by 8:35 and done by 9:30. My fiend and I again had cigars in the Connoisseurs Club, and then finished the night with as brief stop into the disco.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do all of this. We will be on Indy the first week in April. First time cruisers. A little nervous. Do you by any chance have any pictures of the promenade (sp sorry). Thank you again.

Surely do. I guess now is as good a time as any to post them up. Ladies and gentlemen, The Royal Promenade:

I have found on previous cruise that you have to get the mudslide cookies first thing in the morning or they are gone.

Enjoying your review. Even seen a picture of my Mother, which for a quick moment was strange.

The Dog and Badger pub, certainly the coolest and most heavily themed of the venues around the ship. They also boast the biggest drink selection of any of the bars.
