FTTF Then Suite Upgrade

If I am correct in reading, if you have a suite you get priority check in along with FTTF folks and sailing members. We are booked in a 9B and looking at "open cabins" the next step up is OS in which they have over 15 still available. With only offering six 9b's on the spirit class I looked through upgrade threads and it looks like some were offered upgrades. I just want to be prepared IF an upgrade fairy calls.

We have FTTF already and just wanted to verify that it would have been a wasted 49.95 if we decide to upgrade. Can it be transferred to another booking? My sister might be sailing with us and thought of transferred it to her or would I get my 49.95 back? Just wondered and thought I would cover bases with questions/getting answers in advance.

Thank you!!!!

You can cancel and get your money back just like all excursions..It will open it up for others to buy it...

You get priority boarding, but none of the other perks such as early tenders, etc.

Nope.

A suite gets you priority embark and debark. That's it.

If you want the other perks, you have to purchase FTTF. Unless you're Platinum and above.

We upgraded to two GS's and kept the FTTF. We wanted the options to get to the rooms right away without lugging around bags. Since we plan to board early it is worth it for us. The priority tender was another reason we wanted it.

You go to the Purser's Desk and have someone escort you to the front of the tender line.

This does not work leaving shore though.

In some ports you do not pull up to a dock. The ship anchors out at sea (relatively close to the shore) and a smaller boat (called a tender) takes passengers from the Cruise boat to the shore, and from the shore to the Cruise boat. Since tenders are small, there may be lines to wait for the tender. If you have FTTF or are a Platinum or Gold member you do not have to wait in the line.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the info!

Thank you!! I didn't know that being in a suite only really gave you the perk of getting on and off ship earlier.

So to me the FTTF was worth the purchase then, whether I get an upgrade offer or not. I guess the next thing

I need to figure out is how much $ would I be willing to put towards the suite.

We had FTTF and canceled when we upgraded to an Ocean Suite. When we boarded our room was ready. I just thought it was one of the Suite perks.

Nope, just early on and off for Suites. You must have been lucky.

I thought suites could also use the VIP guest service line also. Carnival really doesn't give you much considering the cost of a suite. RC has a concierge to help you with everything you might go to the desk for and a lounge with free food and drinks. A reserved area in the theatre and pool and priority tenders, specialty restaurants and excursions. Princess has a free minibar set up, free dry cleaning and laundry. Celebrity has butlers and a free drinks in the evening.

Our next cruise is to Australia on the Legend and I have researched a suite on other lines and they work out at about double the price of Carnival. I effectively get my wife a trip for nothing, so you can keep the perks, they are nice, but not at double the price.
