We also received this offer and jumped right on it.

We will be on the Carnival Sunshine May 2nd.

We do not gamble. We did however take out $10 in quarters using our sale and sign card At the casino so we could do our laundry. We also have gone on 3 cruises in the space of a year and my Husband filled in the on line survey. :)

This is a legitimate question. I received one of these letters today and threw it away. I just fished it out of the trash. Is this the same offer as the people on this post have received? Mine doesn't look like it's really from Carnival.

If it's from Carnival, you should be able to log onto your VFIP account and it will appear under "offers." You can also call Carnival.

My sister was playing around with the Carnival Web site over the weekend and noticed a free cruise offer in her account. We booked the Valor for May right away thinking it was a glitch. She got a letter in the mail today letting her know of the offer.

Our last Carnival cruise was in October and she's not a member of the Player's Club.

I'm thinking it's totally random. We just did a 7 day cruise on The Dream last month. We have not completed any surveys about our experience on board.

We did spend some time in the casino but by no means are high rollers.

At any rate I'm very happy this letter arrived today. I never expected to be cruising again before next winter. :)

295 dollars for an 8 day balcony on the Liberty!! We were thinking about going to Royal this summer but you can't beat a free cruise.

I'm with you. Same price for 8 day Aft Balcony on Liberty going to Southern Carib. We are going in June.

I really wasn't planning on cruising again and it was hard to make time with work, but this was too good to pass up.

We already had a 7 night booked on Valor in March, and you can see by my history we are by no means huge Carnival cruisers. Never spent one dollar in the casino on any ship. Must be totally random. Very excited!

It's really cool to see other people getting the offer as well. It's like a fantastic, belated Christmas present.

For those of you who haven't gotten one yet...Keep your fingers crossed, check your snail mail & check your on line account offers.

It never hurts and you could end up with a great deal!!!:D

I understand how you feel, but for Carnival it is not about reward, it is about incentive. They have no reason to offer you a free cruise, they know you will keep sailing with them.

After our 2011 cruise, we cancelled our future booking and our future booking certificate (I forget how it was called, but it would have given us on-board credit if we used it).

With this offer, Carnival will get one more chance to impress us. For our family, there was no way we would have stepped a foot on Carnival ship in the near future without this offer.

Exactly my point.

Was this offer from Infinity Travel or Carnival? We received something from an Infinity travel and threw it away because we thought it was a scam.

I got both. I received that scam letter from Infinity Travel first. It looks very similar to the one from Carnival, using Carnival logos all over and saying free cruise.

It really looks random who got these offers. I was on 2 Carnival cruises last year, the most recent in November. I didn't complain. I did complete the online survey after each cruise and had nothing but great ratings. I do spent plenty in the casino and in the shops. I have booked Carnival excursions, but usually use 3rd party. I have received Players Club offers before, notably that cruise in November was a premier cruise.

So this promo looks to be just filling some underbooked ships with previous random customers.

We received our $50 inside cabin (plus $50/pp OBC) offer via snail mail in early/mid December. I was skeptical but took it to work the next day and searched online. It was legit - or appeared to be. The cabins weren't available on all cruises but there was an abundant group to choose from for this offer. I took the chance and booked online - still thinking it was too good to be true. In fact, I even called Carnival after originally booking to make sure everything was good. And it was. I was giving this to my DW as a Christmas gift so I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to disappoint her. Then I started thinking, I wonder how much an upgrade would cost?? I called Carnival back a second time and was upgraded to a D1 balcony for $129 for an 8-day cruise. I was absolutely beside myself with excitement. It was literally the hardest present to keep to myself for those 2-3 weeks before Christmas. When the DW saw it, she began to cry. It was a great Christmas!!!!

All that said, we leave in 25 days (but who's counting?!?!?!). I haven't cruised with Carnival in the last 6-7 years, but I know we are going to have a wonderful time. I took my DW on her first cruise last year and she has fallen in love with it. I hope we get another mailing as I will certainly jump on it!!!!!

I too received the offer for a free cruise. I cruised Carnival twice, in 2011 and 2012, where I booked 3 cabins. I filled out the survey for the 2011 cruise and did note some disappointment.

After our last cruise in 2012 (I didn't complete a survey) we pretty much wrote Carnival off and decided to look at other lines. I booked NCL in 2013 and have Celebrity booked for 2014.

We don't gamble, maybe $50 for the whole cruise in a slot machine.

THAT SAID.....

I am super excited because money is very tight right now, but how can you pass up a Cloud 9 Spa Interior cabin on an 8 day Carnival Splendor cruise for only $288 for two people!!! I don't need airfare, can take a bus into NYC for $40 round-trip (no $300+ parking fee in NYC). I can literally cruise for 8 days with my DD, with tips, for less than $500, and that's throwing in an excursion or two for her!

Now I'm debating whether to upgrade for $140 for my beloved aft-extended.

I've also been looking at the Alaska and Hawaii cruises also FREE, boy wish I had some money to blow on airfare!!!

First of all, Congrats to everyone who got this offer!! How awesome is that??? A free cruise? upgrading to a balcony for less than a price of one inside room?? WOW and OBC to boot! This is a great marketing tool and kudos to Carnival for filling their ships. With that said, it will take a lot to get me back on a Carnival line after my upcoming cruise. I wanted to upgrade from a Oceanview to a guaranteed balcony and pay them $400+ but they wouldn't let me. That was a special promotion for 1st time bookings...I could upgrade, but it was for $600. Rediculous, and then no one got back to me on my complaint, and then last night I read about all these free cruises and free upgrades and OBC. I think they also need to take care of their past passengers who are trying to be loyal customers. A happy customer always comes back! But again, congrats to you all!!!

Congratulations on your good fortune!

From everything I have read, it seems like Carnival is using this incentive to get past guests back on board if they haven't cruised in a while.

It seems really odd to me that Carnival rewards those that are not their best customers, but isn't rewarding its best customers in the same way.

I guess the underlying message sent is that if you want the offer, you have to jump ship and avoid Carnival. :-)

I think it's a mix of clients. We've sailed Carnival once a year since 2006, except one year we strayed to RCCL on a couldn't pass up offer.

At this point, I don't ask questions, I just have fun....

While I can somewhat understand your frustration, do not understand your anger to the point of saying it will take a lot for you to sail CCL again. You even stated the reason you couldn't get the promotion you wanted was because it was for 1st time bookings. What part of this causes your anger? Sounds like you are feeling some of the frustrations of me and other long time CCL cruisers that we do not get some of these offers.

Hopefully Carnival keeps on doing this promotion. Usually we only cruise once a year, but will definitely cruise more with these offers. Also, we'll end up spending a lot on board since the price is so low anyway. Carnival will fill berths and continue to make money too!

:D I am very very happy!!!! It was a month ago today that I disembarked from the Dream. I never thought I would be cruising again in 5 months & getting it for just the cost of taxes, port fees & a small up charge for the balcony room. Congrats everyone who did receive the letter. To those who did not, check your profile, something might be waiting for you. I spoke with my Carnival rep today & their are people who might have this offer waiting for them, but may not have gotten the letter.

We just got done booking a cruise on the Magic for May 4th and only paid 70.00 plus port charges PER PERSON. I almost fell over when I heard the amount. (and that was for a room with a balcony). We skipped a cruise last year but have been loyal members. I think its d/t the bad publicity. There loss is our gain!

While I am happy for others that received the offer it seems a little unfair to those ( like me) who just booked yesterday and paid thousands for the same cruise. Seems like good publicity in one sense but could be bad depending on your outlook. Hoping I get one eventually!
