Demographic of free cabin recipients

Since so many are trying to figure out the the random free cabin given out I thought the people who received them can list a few thing about their past cruising habits and we can see if there's a pattern .

I did receive and book Breeze for this May.

My last cruise was December 7, 2013 on Liberty in an ocean suite 7 night.

I gambled maybe $30.00 and then won $50.00

My bar bill was about $80.00. I did no spa or excursions, we ate in the steakhouse one time and bought nothing other on the ship.

I cruised Freedom 6 night in November of 2011 again in an OS and spent about the same as above.

Inspiration 6 night in 2009 with one ship excursion and spent less than $150.00 , we were in grand suite.

Sailed on Fantasy in a grand suite for a five day cruise spent very little, again a GS.

I'm from the mid west and am 50 years of age.

This is my history with Carnival

According to my PVP, the free cruises were offered to people who've had high Sail & Sign Accounts at some point in time, and who haven't cruised in a long time (an incentive to get these high spenders to return to Carnival).

I guess your example proves that what my PVP said is not accurate.

I cruised last June on the ecstacy. I booked an ocean view on the main deck. I purchased fttf, and a cabana at half moon cay. We didn't gamble, did not buy a pic or gift. We did spend $550 on bar tab ;). I booked an aft view balcony on the ecstasy with my offer for $80. This will be our second cruise. Age 40

I'll say not:D

I don't think PVP really know too much, I always thought they are just people in a call center and have no real knowledge ....I know some know more than others but the ones I've dealt with really knew very little, this's way I use my TA.

I'm curious to know if anyone who got the offer had any current bookings?

I got one and this is the first time in years I haven't had a cruise currently booked. We sailed the last three thanksgiving weeks... Moderate sign and sail bill... No gambling.

I am Platinum with Carnival but had not sailed since 2009. While I like to gamble, I usually limit the spending to no more than 200 or so for a week cruise. I would say our S&S account is pretty decent size on most of our cruises. I received my offer in December and booked for May as well.

We received a free cruise offer. Just came off of the Valor two weeks ago and had booked on the Splendor in November.

Now thanks to the free cruise, we are going on the Sunshine in May :D

We've been booking exclusively with Princess now. We've been on many Carnival cruises and I guess they are missing our bookings. Our last one was on the Miracle to Alaska. We loved the itinerary so well that we booked with Princess leaving out of San Francisco. We can drive to the port and we will become platinum on this upcoming cruise. When we get back in May we plan to book another cruise - but on Princess.

I think there was a wave of letters that went out at end of December, and now I am seeing more folks getting them now in February. I wonder if Carnival was testing the idea in December and had enough success to do it again this month.

I was looking to book moms 65th birthday cruise on yesterday and found she was eligible for a free cruise that needed to be taken by June 31st. The birthday cruise is in August, so she'll get to go on one before her birthday, and come back one day before (will make her Gold for the cruise in August).

We sent her on one of the inaugural Dream cruises out of NY, put some $$$ on her S&S card for her to spend, but I don't think she spent more than that on the ship except for a few bucks in the casino. Cruised the Miracle out of NY in 2012, and thats it.

I book the free cruise online, and waited until today to book her cabin for the August cruise with our PVP. He told me he could have gotten us an upgrade, but i told him I went ahead and paid the extra $80 for a spa balcony, and he told me thats what the price would have been anyway. He also informed me that the free cruise was going to expire at the end of the month.

5 carnival cruises, last one in 2012 for my 50th birthday, which we accrued onboard credits due to price drops (may not be related but it was right after the concordia tragedy)….turned the credits into a upgrade for a suite with verandah. all of our cruises earn hefty sail and sign accounts as we like to drink while on vacation, but no gambling ever. Last year we tried Norwegian and so far this year we have sailed Disney (unbelievable resident rate of $100 per night). Haven't even gone to Carnival site in 2 years. There are 3 of us, DH, DD and myself, I book and pay for everything…..who got the letter, DH! I wanted to use it for a girls trip, just me and DD, so I called I was told the person to receive the letter had to be on the reservation. So I say, "how is that fair?" and she says, "I couldn't tell you, just the way it is!" I can't complain though, still getting a week long cruise for 3 in a balcony cabin for $700….same thing we paid for the 3 nighters on Norwegian and Disney! Now if someone would kindly pick up the tab for our sail and sign cards…..:D

I had a crazy S and S account back in 2006. Bought the wife some blue diamonds, earrings and ring from the onboard shop but nothing crazy since. Had to stand in line and see the tax man that cruise. Usually our gratuity charges and some cocktails. Our last Carnival was 2 years ago on the last Destiny sailing before it's rebirth. We upgraded to a suite and then toilet flooded the place and soaked carpet the rest of the trip. Carnival offered 15% off next trip. We have sailed on Princess 3 times since. Both the wife and I got letters and we are Gold Level.

My husband and I both got a letter.

We do not drink and spend less than $100 in the casino (winning most, if not more, back).

We've cruised 4 times on Carnival since 2010. Our last cruise was this past December.

We usually have one treatment each in the spa however our last cruise we did not.

We spend less than $100 in the stores.

We do always buy internet minutes/packages.

We NEVER do Carnival shore excursions.

We do eat in the steakhouse if on a ship that has one.

Never buy pictures.

We are in our early 30s.

Always book a balcony.

We booked 2 connecting balconies 7 day on the Magic for around $450 TOTAL for 2 people in each cabin. I can not think of any financial reason why Carnival would give me an almost $4000 discount on this.

I'll tell you something. I was fixing to go back to cruising on RCCL and preparing to book my next cruise with them. Now this, Thank you Carnival... You won us back... lol I do feel bad none of our family members got this offer but a coworker of mine did.

We were wondering if this had something to with filling out the surveys. We always fill out any survey Carnival gives us (mainly because we have Psych degrees and surveys are our middle name lol).

My hubs got the offer.

We cruised the conquest in 2006 with about $400 on sail and sign and $100 in casino.

Did the triumph 4 day December 2013 and had $800 on sail and sign and no casino, had a massage at the spa, bought some liquor, and bought two shore excursions for my son and hubs, I win mine in a drawing so my shore excursion ticket was free. Didn't buy pics, played too much bingo!

We are early to mid 30's, didn't fill out any surveys.

We always book balconies.

We are booked on the breeze 8 day southern in June, cove balcony for $350 for the two of us.

We did not have a current booking, we are from the central US.

I wonder if booking as part of a group matters in any way. Nobody has addressed that except one person.

Carnival Destiny jan 2010

Carnival Liberty 9/28/13

Carnival Victory 10/5/13

Carnival Sensation 3/9/14

Carnival Sensation 3/13/14

Carnival Splendor 11/1/14

Don't see people saying the booked as a group so I would guess its safe to say they did not. That's the point of the thread to list your past cruises and things about them .

DH is 50, I will turn 50 on our next cruise (which is next weekend). We have 9 cruises, including this next one. We are from Ohio.

We usually have $500-700 S&S card bill for a 7 day cruise. We spend $100 or less in the casino. We spend little, if any money in shops. We don't do steakhouse and rarely buy photos. We tend to do most excursions with private operators.

Oh, and I never had an offer for a free cruise. Gotcha! :D:o Silly me.

Myself got the offer. Me and family have been on Carnival only twice...both times we got the cheapest 3 day Mexican cruise out of LA. Past cruises were in like 2009 and 2011. We never walked into the casino ever in any cruise. We have never had a single alcohol drink or for that matter bought anything which will cost us out of pocket.
