Thanks...I now have a follow up question.

For breakfast can you wear shorts to the dining room or is there a dress code in effect at that time too?

Yes, shorts are fine (tasteful of course, in case you are a "daisy duke" shorts type person :D)

On a regular port day, do they offer different breakfast options then the breakfast buffet? How long does it take to eat? Is it as long as a dinner?

On a port day, breakfast probably would take longer than going to the Lido Buffet. However, it certainly isn't as long as dinner.

We go to the MDR for breakfast every day because it's so much more relaxing than going to the buffet. On port days, the buffet is usually busier than sea days when some peeps want to sleep in and go later.

As to the options on the breakfast menu - do a search for menus or go to zydocruiser dot com so see the menus.

Just checked Carnival's web site and you can find info on the breakfast menu by going to FAQ section - under dining.

We were on the Valor back in August and after fighting the crowds in the buffet area the 1st morning, we ate breakfast in the dining room the rest of the time. It did take a bit more time than the Lido Buffets, but you are definitely more relaxed and are able to have conversation with your table mates with out yelling. IMO, the food was always fresher as well.

Not quite, on port days a dining room is open for breakfast

and on sea days the Seaday Brunch is offered.

Let me go one step further.

On regular (non-Brunch) days the MDR is open for breakfast at 0730 hrs.

On Days at Sea when they do the Brunch thing..

MDR opens at 0830 instead (-until 1 p.m. I think).

It's so civilized, away from the trough! :)

We learned our lesson about 7 cruises ago

and now routinely have our breakfasts and evening meals in the Main Dining Room -always.
