I asked this on another thread, and then realized I might be better to ask on this one...

Does anyone know if it is possible to join M Life online and then use that sign up (I assume an account # is issued immediately) to do as Can'tWait2SetSail did and sign up for C&A.

The issue I'm wondering about is that the M Life terms and conditions mention activating the card in person at an MGM property. If I won't be at one before my RC cruise, do I still "technically" have an M Life membership? Or would I have to have a card in hand and and activated membership?

TIA, if anyone has any insight into this!

Actually, it's not supposed to work that way. It's sounds like you got the Diamond balcony discount AND your M Life perks. You are actually supposed to choose one or the other. When I booked my second cruise, I had to choose between my Platinum M Life perks - or the $25 certificate from RCI.

When I signed up with Mlife, after I had already booked my cruise. That was exactly how the MLife representative told me it would work and exactly how it did work in reality. So... Just sayin.

My cruise was in January, and I got my Mlife card in February. I just printed out a copy of the page where it showed I was MLife gold because of my Diamond status. I didn't need it because the casino hostess found me on the MLife list online.

This is my first Royal Cruise and I am a lowly sapphire member at Mlife. I called the Royal Casino number 1-888-561-2234 and a very nice guy named Rick helped me out. He enrolled me in the Crown and Anchor club and said I will get the coupon booklet and can use priority boarding. Yay! So yes there are some benefits for low rolling first time RC cruisers! I love Cruise Critic! So much good info here!

I just did exactly this. I got a wonderful rep named Betty and she enrolled me in Crown and Anchor Gold and gave me my membership #. She said that my benefits will now be:

*Coupon booklet in my stateroom when we arrive

*Priority Check-in

*Welcome back party

*Private departure lounge with continental breakfast

*Meet the stars

*I can ask to be put on the upgrade list

Honestly, I have no idea what most of that means :) but for someone who has never cruised and is the lowest MLife status there is, I'll be happy and take it.

And if anyone can tell me a little more information about all my new "perks", I'd appreciate it. Priority check-in and upgrade list are self explanatory but the others I'd like to know details.

Oh, and just in case someone was wondering like I was, I asked if my freeplay on my MLife card would work in the ship's casino and was told no. No biggy. BUT..... should I make sure that I take my MLife card with me on the cruise? Is there a need for it?

I also want to mention, when the C&A match to MLife began last year it was total confusion and many lucky C&A passengers were getting both benefits but I think pretty much RCL has figured that out since December and its been reported they aren't letting C&A members who have already taken C&A discounts such as balcony discounts, also get the benefits from the casino (such as drinks and dinner in specialty)

Now when you match you status with MLife, Mlife is sending a list to RCL casino HQ; if you join very close to sail date, RCL may not have a record of you. If you just go to the casino, the manager may want to check with Miami to verify your status. Again, early on they were accepting that printed out version and I've heard on some ships, they won't give you the time of day with the printed out version.

I sailed in January, and got the free dinner and drinks...

Did you have your card in hand or the print out with you? Most have not been able to get the balcony discount and MLife. Just saying that is what they are reporting. If you get both, then lucky! ;)

I found Kat, and the other Casino Royale people, to be among the nicest I have seen at Royal or any other line. The new (since Jan 2014) Casino Rate & Gold/Plat/Noir benefits when combined, may be better than $$$ onboard credit/balcony discount. Plus, you really get true VIP treatment and have your C&R benefits onboard.

In the future I will book my Royal cruises, direct through the Club Royale casino department, as it may be the best option; which relatively few people know about!!!! ;):p

So I'm guessing you are a member of Club Royale? Can you elaborate on the benefits you were referring to? Sorry if this has already been posted and I've missed it. Can you become a member of CR using your Mlife status?
