Price Drop Question

Recommended Posts

This is our first time booking with a US travel agent and I noticed on their web site today, that our cabin price had dropped by quite a significant amount. I emailed the TA and asked if we were eligible for the new price and was delighted to be told that we are.

Our final balance payment is due tomorrow, so my question to all you seasoned cruisers is, if the price drops again would we be able to ask for the new price to be applied. Or is that not an option after final balance has been paid? UK TA's do not honour price drops so this is all new to us.Thank you in advance.

If the price drops before fnal payment date, you should be able to get a price adjustment, with certain exceptions, even if you have paid off the cruise already. After final payment date, no OBC or credit.

We had paid our final payment and a higher level/grade class cabin came available this morning. I called and got it changed! No loss of OBC, no change fee. Went from a C-2 to a D-1! It was a Central Park balcony to an Ocean view Balcony and a "hump" balcony too!

You can get price drops up until final payment. The final payment date is the one that is set by the cruise line and not the one set by the Travel agent. The date that he travel agent uses can be 7 days or more before the date set by Royal.

Thank you everyone for your help so far - but Ourusualbeach, how do I find out what the final payment date is for RCI? ( the TA's date is tomorrow)

Royal's final payment date is 60 days before the cruise for 5 day and shorter cruises, and 75 days before the cruise for longer days.

You can ask the TA for Royal's Guest Copy of your booking confirmation, and the final payment date will be noted on that document.

Final payment of the balance must be received at Royal Caribbean's offices at least 60 days prior to the sailing date for 3, 4, or 5-night cruise vacations and 75 days prior to the sailing date for 7-night or longer cruise vacations. The payment schedule for groups is different from that of individuals. You will usually have access to your cruise documents 30 days prior to your sailing as long as your reservation is finalized.

For all holiday sailings, (Christmas and New Year's), payment is due 90 days prior to sailing.

Can I just ask though, does it work the opposite way too if the price goes up, can the TA ask for the extra payment than you were originally quoted?

No, fortunately if the price goes up, your price stays the same, unless you cancel the booking and rebook.

Wow! I think that that is the lowest fare that I have ever seen for a D1 on Allure! :)
