"Where on earth do you buy your shirts?"

At a surf shop.

Haha

Dear Raggy

Ho Hum will gratefully accept that one !

HH a "surfer dude" like your good self.

It gave Blondie a good laugh too.

HH's credibility goes up a few points with that one.

More "insults" please.

Quote......."The second encounter with Laphroaig was up a mountain in India in the Himalayas.

A 12 hour train journey from Delhi followed by two 6 hour jeep trips and a 2 hour hike up the side of a mountain to a flat section of ground comprising of an arrangement of grand canvas tents. Two for a couple of guests (each with a chemical toilet), one for staff, another for a kitchen and the last for a dining-room with silver service and candelabras !"

I would volunteer for an ascent of Everest if it is like this!

Poor Santa Claus in Nevis...mentally scarred and haunted for life trying to keep healthy the inhabitants of the Glasgow tenements. Having a fair idea of what he probably witnessed, I presume he drank the Laphroaig trebles neat.

I recall the Glasgow of the early 1970's. No M8 motorway so had to drive through it to get to the Clyde. Dark, repressive, foreboding, rather unsettling for a child. Recall in the early 1980's undertaking inspections of flats. Dark, repressive.....

The lucky tenants had benefitted from the installation of bathrooms in the 1960's!!! but to the astonishment of one so young, I did not expect several of the tenant's to use their bath tub for the storage of coal or their entire bathroom as a storage cupboard. I was too frightened to ask "how do you access the toilet or take a bath?"

Thirty years on and now its all sheer luxury...no leaking roof, a flushing toilet and mice that now wipe their feet before entering.

How things have changed !

Glasgow, a city of culture a while back.

And the gangs ! Gone HH hopes !

But Scottish humour........loved "Still Game" about Glaswegian pensioners, Jack & Victor.

To commemorate another milestone (the 1000th) in HH "foot in mouth" incidents which ho hum CAN report (there are some which are too excruciatingly embarrassing to report even here amongst you seasoned "oh no, what's he done this time" devotees of drivel and the banal!).

On a recent voyage we ate with a lovely couple from the UK and the lady of the two was very attractive indeed and reminded ho hum of the early 1970's singer, Jane Birkin.

She did a famous duet with Serge Gainsborough called "Je t'aime".

Yes it might have been a bit raunchy for its time with a lot of heavy breathing...well you know the sort of thing.......no not when you climb the stairs !

God help us !

Were you never young ?

But it was nothing like Madonna or Miley Cyrus or that sort of thing.

Twerking !

Does nothing for ho hum.

Good God girl cover yourself up, those kidneys will get a chill !

Sorry, may HH continue ?

Well at a certain interlude HH told her she looked like said, Jane Birkin.

Well by the expression on her face she obviously did not know who the hell JB was and HH might as well have told her about "penny farthing" bicycles or tobacco being introduced to the UK.

Lets just say she was a lot younger than the decrepit ho hum. He forgets sometimes.

She said she would "Google" it.

Fine and HH thought no more about it.

We Complete a lovely evening and return to cabin.

Within seconds of being in the door, Blondie starts.

"What the hell did you think you were doing calling ***** that she looked like Jane Birkin ?"

Because she did !

You called **** a PORN star !

What, Jane Birkin did porn ?

Yes !

Really ?

HH thought she was famous for that song.........you know "Je T'aime...."

Well she mainly did porn ! Soft porn but porn just the same.

Oh God, what has HH done ?

She probably thinks you've been thinking of her naked during the whole meal !

(How did she know that ! No ho hum jokes. Ho hum is a gentleman in that regard).

Oh hell !

Ho hum still not convinced quickly "Googles" Jane Birkin to see what our dining companion would see.

The site showed said Ms.Birkin in semi-naked poses languishing over chairs, beds and a variety of household furniture as if she had just completed a marathon of some kind (and HH doesnt think it was the hoovering or loading the dish-washer, if you know what HH means !).....let's just say she seemed a tad tired after the excesses of the moments before !

Oh hell Hum, think next time !

Ho-hum - oh my god!!!

When gcmv googled "Jane Birkin", a picture of her taken from the movie "Don Juan" in 1973 emerged on the screen. Thank god, Frau gcmv did not stand behind him - could be the reason for a divorce petition ... :D

In keeping with the "Idle Jottings" rules put out in post one, page one, there is a thread over at Cunard that makes me think of Ho-Hum. Elegance and style and all that rubbish, don't you know. A disgruntled passenger sent his Armani Tuxedo to be cleaned aboard Cunard and they WASHED it. I suppose I would be a bit disgruntled as well.

After a very blustery and heavy overcasy sky in the early morning, the weather turned by mid-morning and we had a lovely beach party.

The facilites are purposefully designed for events, co prising of a two storey building with seating above. The building is set 100m from the beach, in front of which is a large timber devk, canopied seating areas and a pool.

Deck chairs and sun beds line the beach.

Water was wonderfullu warm.

A good time had by all.

Thank God, you did'nt open up:

"Don Juan or if Don Juan were a woman" !!

(It had BB in it.....phawww !)

Dammit, HH said thank God, you DID'NT open it up !

Ho hum says hi Frau gcmv.

Is there no justice in this world?? Ho-Hum sails SeaDream repeatedly and has Porn Star lookalikes as fellow passengers. Jimbo sails SD occasionally and has kids and groups........Just not right somehow.

Haha

Jim so funny

But HH did not know she also did those kind of films !

How the hell was HH to know this apparent wholesome young lady was accustomed to "taking her kit off, at the drop of a hat !"

Yikes !

One thing HH will say about SD, the laundry master and colleagues are BRILLIANT !

If there is any concern they ALWAYS check first.

Ho Hum does the ironing in the HH & Blondie household....the servants are not as good as HH would like.

HH finds it very Zen !

HH,

Can't wait to hear more!!?... Foot in mouth disease spreading again? Hahahaha!

Thanks for a Great laugh!!!

(Blondie?) can you control your hubby please?!... LOL

Kathy,

P.s. Danny says Hi! 😃

Trust HH, Kathy, HH regularly has his foot in his grande bouche !

Blondie is always "rolling her eyes" at the latest goof or is transfixed in a fixed laugh as the horror of the gaff pervades the table of fellow guests.

Hell he even called a hotel favoured by fellow passengers (the Best Western in St.Thomas) as a "Pschittolla" when they apparently loved it for the old Caribbean charm !

Just cant remember the friends names......never mind.

Hi right back at you to Danny and your lovely, lovely friends.....sure had a fun time with you guys.

Why thank Ho Hum for your kind 'welcome home'

This machine keeps crashing once I type over a certain number of characters.

Had a fab time. Think, from memory!! The champagne was DP 2004?

Loved Auckland. Very nice people. Did a trip to Waiheke Island and had lunch and wine tasting at Mudbrick vineyard. Bought half a case of their SB.

Melbourne, although very nice, is too busy for me. They were preparing for the Grand Prix and the weather was awful.

Loved Sydney, had a corner suite on the highest floor in the Shangri La. Did all the touristy things.........Pxx

.....the highlight however was on the old boys 50th. Walking along the street on the big day, we just happened to 'bump into' our wonderful friends that we hadnt seen in almost 8 years. It was a great surprise for him. You'd have thought he'd seen a ghost (or two). He couldn't believe we had planned everything as a surprise. We spent two days with them celebrating. Fabulous fabulous time with truly wonderful people. Sad it's all over but great memories. Pxxx

HH,

It's ok HH!! You have taught us all a new word that we now use quite frequently...Schittolla!!! Hahaha!!! This weather is still Schittolla! Etc, etc...

By the way, we should be accumulating some frequent yachting points as we have convinced a few more couples to join us on Seadream in the near future! Do you and Blondie have plans for any future European sailings?....and were you serious about visiting Montreal? Promise to find you a better Schittolla to lay your head! LOL

Not to fan H-H's SeaDream "Rewards" rant, but on Seabourn, after your voyage you get a card in the mail. If you get someone to sail the first time with them, you both get $400 credit. We received the credit on our first sailing then we were given it for getting our card to another newbie after our sailing. Sort of beats 5 socks in the laundry....... So there is your "frequent yachting points" at work.:D

Sounds lovely! But how would you compare the Nevis location to other SD beach party locations. My favorite is near the Soggy Dollar. I also liked Mayreau.

Hey whatnot,

Yes HH and many others would agree with you Jost van Dyke, BVI is probably the best.

It has a better atmosphere with more yachts arriving and others to "ogle" at.

The seating for dining is a bit cramped though and there is precious little shade: SD arrange for more umbrellas PLEASE.

The "Soggy Dollar" can have aggravating long queues sometimes and purchasing the famous liquid can be a scrum.

Mayreau is nice. Seating for dining is in the shade and well spaced out. There is a cool steel band and it is well organised. Met the owner's very attractive and equally competent daughter who greets Sea Dream ship officers to check everything works well and it always does. So a nice feel. Some feed the dogs that wander about: disgusting habit but the dogs are friendly and gently "shooed away" by a man with a branch shouting "shoo" as it happens.

Nevis comes in last place but many liked it. There is a great hike there up into the rainforest which many enjoyed. It probably has the best facilities too but it lacks the cache of the "Jost".

There is a large disconnect between the dining areas and beach as could be said for Mayreau too (but less so).

The problem of travelling when others know your identity, is that they can come up to you and deliver a critique on any of your postings whether solicited or not.

Now there is one gentleman hailing from the great country of Canada who feels it is perfectly OK to critique HH's factual assessment of the Nevis beach party facilities just as you are about to bite into SD's delicious croissants (they are divine !) at breakfast time. Breakfast ! Is nothing sacred !

And this comes after you have helped the "self-proclaimed Luddite" in his resistance to all things technical on the spurious basis that the internet is just a "flash in the pan" !

Yea Gods !

All HH can say is "if you can do better, go right ahead matey boy !"

Oh and his side-kick promises to deliver a review of restaurants visited in St.Barts.....we might be waiting a while methinks !

So Whatnot, HH hopes it helps a tad........dont forget all are nice.

What do others prefer for the beach party ?

But the water and the sand of Nevis were delicious, on the order of Jost really, without the crowds and the other boats. One of the best and most entertaining spectacles was seeing HoHum dance himself across the hot sand to get back to the tender. Tender footed indeed.

Best to mention nothing of HoHum and his Caribbean Cruise Ship Con. He makes quite a handy profit it seems!!

Ho Hum's lawyers, Dewey, Cheatem & Howe, will be issuing a writ for slander when he finally returns to the UK !

It will be counter-claimed Ho Hum strode manfully across the sand and gave self-less assistance in establishing email set ups for the apparently clueless and un-grateful, Canadian wastes, "settlement dweller" and whilst he was on a much needed vacation (yet he un-selfishly posted every day to his dear chums presently reading this drivel, as you would call it !).

Good day sir !

Sounds an impressive partnership............ however Ho Hum, may I suggest "Smith and Wesson" as I believe they have never lost a case!

Interesting firm "r1787" !

Will definitely check them out.

HH has heard back from Abenaki's lawyers, "Cox, Cox & Cox" offering settlement (check their sign. Dont they check this kind of thing beforehand !).

HH hopes Abenaki realises that he is using extra restraint in not continuing with a whole train of "naughty bubbles".

So r1787, see you are a great Seabourn Odyssey fan, as are many of those who also frequent Sea Dreams.

Chip in any time it suits you, friend.

We occasionally post about cruising but there are a divergent range of subjects here and it is a fun crowd......but you probably know that already.
