Princess Prices

I was comparing a 5 day Caribbean cruise on the Caribbean Princess to an RC cruise. Veranda prices were $800 compared to $550 on RC. Is Princess worth that much more or is that just an anomaly? Any tips for getting better rates on Princess?

Pricing, of course, depends on the balcony category selected and the dates selected. So first make certain you are comparing similar staterooms and dates. Second normally Princess starts with higher prices and then at some point have a promo. If the dates you are looking for are far out then a promo may come at some point. Third, RC and Princess are more the same than they are different, so no, if you can get what you wish at a better price then go for it.

Make sure that the RCCL balcony (veranda) is an ocean cabin and not an inside veranda cabin. We saw some great prices last fall when we were checking prices then we realized that they were inside balcony cabins on the Oasis. I really don't want my balcony view to be of the cabins on the other side of that open walkway thing.

When comparing prices, keep in mind that Princess allows TAs to discount fares and quite a few do and you can save 10-20%. Plus, Princess allows you to combine OBC so if your TA gives you OBC, you get shareholder OBC, military OBC, etc., it can really add up. TAs can't advertise or promote discounts so you have to ask for a quote.
