cruzinmamaTN Posted March 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2014 Just need to vent a bit here. hubby wanted to surprise me with a quick 4 night on Liberty next month. Sunday around 11pm, inside prom. was at $239pp. Monday, this sailing goes to the C&A "preview" of GGG for this week, and the same sailing, cabin, etc.. goes UP to $299pp. ummm.... I'm no mathmatician, but $239 to $299 does NOT equal "up to 20% OFF select sailings"... oh.. and I can't convert a NCC I have to this sailing at the $299, it would be $369pp, since it's not a "new" booking. I understand that is the case with all GGG "sales".. just another annoyance, when all I want is some time in the SUN! :) so.annoying. Guess I'll have to wait to see where the price goes tomorrow after the "SALE" is over.... sigh.
ryano Posted March 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Seems like this is the norm for RCI. Prices are generally better just before their "sale" Edited March 18, 2014 by ryano
nolesrule Posted March 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) ummm.... I'm no mathmatician, but $239 to $299 does NOT equal "up to 20% OFF select sailings"... Sure it does. A price increase is a negative "% OFF", so it is lower than 20% off. :D Edited March 18, 2014 by nolesrule
JasonV1 Posted March 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2014 Those sales are really hit or miss. My upcoming Allure cruise has one on right now, but if you checked prices Sunday the drop was already in place for all users. It went from: Sunday - Everyone Monday - C&A only (normal for GGG sales) Tuesday - Everyone Wait for the GGG sale to open if you wish, but you better be sure to check prices in the interim. Now if I could just get Royal to give a better price on one of those 15 Junior suites that are left I'd be happy. Even with 12 days to go they have barely budged on price (GGG sale underway right now), and I've been watching inventory for over 5 weeks and they haven't sold one in that time. I'm willing to pay a premium over my balcony, but not a $1650 (total) premium.
njmomof2 Posted March 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) Now I booked under a GGG sale a couple of weeks ago for Spring Break on Oasis. The price of a B1 came down to $749/pp and a D5 was $799/pp. They did not have adjoining or connection B1 cabins so we booked the D5 cabins adjoining. After that couple of days, the price went way up and now, even with other sales coming around, the B1 only came back down to $999/pp. So I think I got a great price, and I was able to use my balcony discount to bring it down further. I've been watching every couple of days and everything went way up again, and the sailing is in just over 3 weeks. ETA: I just looked at it again and the GGG sale is back on that same sailing. Except the prices are between $200/pp and $400/pp more for the same categories I looked at the last week of February. So I'm happy that I caught it at what appears to be a pretty low price. ahecht Posted March 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2014 Sure it does. A price increase is a negative "% OFF", so it is lower than 20% off. :D There's a store around here that often has sales of "up to 20% off or more!" which basically means nothing. Guess I'll have to wait to see where the price goes tomorrow after the "SALE" is over.... sigh. It might be lower. It might not. RC seems to be using some pretty noisy modeling for prices lately. Which is perfectly okay for me: I buy in when I see a price I'm happy with and never pay much attention to it again.

Jason, I wanted to let you know that on our Allure sailing departing this Sunday, 3/23, RCI released our cruise's 15 unsold JSs yesterday (6 days out) as automatic upgrades to C & A members who had booked D1 balconies based on their loyalty level. RCI never did drop the price of the JS. So, if you are holding a D1 balcony cabin, maybe you will be upgraded! Don't look for prices to drop much.
