mamagina Posted March 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2014 We just returned on Monday on the Splendor: I can't believe how uninformed the Guest Services staff is. On the evening before Nassau we asked if there was any sort of Priority disembark for Platinum or FTTF because the cruise director asked everyone for cooperation getting off in Nassau because there usually is a rush in that port because everyone wants to get on with their private excursions and plans quickly. He specifically said not to come down to the gangway until he made announcements to do so even though we will be docked for a while--local authorities have to clear the ship. We are Platinum but guest services said priority disembark was only for our departure in NY. Well, we were sitting having breakfast and the cruise director reiterated his warning not to come down to the gangway and then only five minutes later he says "OK, we will begin our disembark with our Diamond, Platinum and FTTF guests who should be ready now on the Starboard lobby staircase." LOL! We missed out on that!!! Despite what Guest Services may tell you about disembarking in Nassau, THERE IS PRIORITY FOR Diamond, Platinum and FTTF guests!! We were told there wasn't on the night before docking yet the cruise director announced it that morning and we weren't ready for it. Those groups were the first allowed off at 7:30am. We found Guest services to be very uniformed and usually wrong about many other inquires on this ship. First time we ever experienced that.
Rare 1kaper Posted March 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Is this something that is offered to all platinum on all ships too? I was FTTF on the Glory and there was not priority debarking at ports to my knowledge. Just wondering if I missed it or if it is just some ships. Fla Senior Posted March 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Priority disembark is only for tender ports. Maybe this CD made a one-time exception.
vols_159 Posted March 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Maybe the cd screwed up.. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Tapi Posted March 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Weird. Have never experienced priority disembark at ports of call (except when tendering). Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
KenMo Posted March 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Don't count on it on every ship. If one reads the perks, it clearly states the perk is for tender ports. As usual, someone doesn't know how things are supposed to work.
samikitty Posted March 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2014 I've never seen priority debarkation except for a tender port. Then again, for most ports we've been to many times, and don't try to get off the ship very quickly - especially in Nassau.
nchikk Posted March 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Sounds to me like a CD error, not mis-information on the part of Guest Services. Edited March 21, 2014 by nchikk
Rare 1kaper Posted March 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Sounds to me like a CD error, not mis-information on the part of Guest Services. I've been kind of following this since I saw someone mention it recently. Since then I have seen a number of people mention this. I had wondered if I missed it on my cruise. Some said it was clearly set up, a few others said they went to Guest Services, asked and were escorted off the ship. It seems most were on the Splendor, so it could be a CD thing, but I am pretty sure at least one or two other ships were also mentioned for this. I can't seem to recall which though. Seany527 Posted March 21, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Hmmm, I wish I knew how it was going to work. I'll be in the Splendor in two weeks, getting off in Nassua. With an 11am time for getting to port it's going to be somewhat chaotic. Being FTTF though, I would really really like to take advantage of this. Is Malcolm still the CD? scoonrod Posted March 21, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 21, 2014 On my last 2 crusies there has been a somewhat of priority for priority memebrs getting off in ports. You didnt have to follow the line comletely down. Once you go to a certain floor one set of steps was for regular and the other was considered priority. It took you down then you had to mix in with the other side a crew memeber was there to help you to but it avoided you standing and going down with the crowd. There was a crew member at each floor for like 3 floors that asked to see sign and sail card to prove you belonged in that line.
mamagina Posted March 21, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted March 21, 2014 Malcolm was the CD on our cruise that began 3/9 and returned this past Monday. He was the one who made the announcements. We thought he was a very good CD. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
092306 Posted March 21, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 21, 2014 We also had the benefit of priority debarkation for non-tender ports on the Splendor. I believe it was for Grand Turk. Platinum, Diamond, F2F and those in wheelchairs were allowed off first. The other two ports were San Juan and St. Thomas but I'm not sure about those because we didn't aim to get off the ship right away.
portport Posted March 22, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 22, 2014 I will be on the Splendor in 3 days, so I will let you know what happens. Malcom will not be our CD though :-( All the regular CD will be at a conference next week we get this other guy ...I forget his name all I know is that he is a red head that does magic and tells jokes. If we do get priority with him I will let you know.
