I kept teetering whether i wanted to write this review or not.. but i figured, what the heck.. if people dont like it, i will at least have it for me to remember. also i am trying to type fast and remember stuff while it is still semi fresh in my head.. attempted to take notes during the cruise on my tablet but imagine that, i would fall asleep while i was typing... i was one busy bee on this cruise.. :)

 

on the flights.... OMG.. no matter when or where we go there is always something... always.. i try to take it with a grain of salt but when you are delayed in your home airport and dont even leave on time.... kind of irritating.... i wish the bar was open that early i would have thrown some baileys in my coffee.. lol.. it was 5 o clock somewhere and i was trying to start my vacation! hehehe..

 

where about in oregon does your niece live? we are in southern oregon.. :D

Barbara, it was so nice to meet you, Patrick, and your mom during the cruise. We had a fabulous cruise even though we didn't hang with the roll call that much. That is what is so great about cruising. There is something for everybody to make vacations special.

 

i am so glad we at least got to meet for sure!!!! i have left that cruise with a special place in my heart for everyone off that roll call.. :D it was pretty epic i have to say..

Thank you for all the positive responses so far.. I truly appreciate it.. I plan on working on some more today and throughout the weekend.. These do take quite a bit of time but I will go as fast as my little hands can type and resize photos.. I have some written in word already and if I get totally bored at work I might just work on some later this afternoon as well...

i am back! lol.... i had to sleep last night so i can somewhat function at work.. which is where i am now and obviously cannot focus at work cause all i can think about is another vacation... lol...

Great start! I was also on this cruise and was active in the roll call. I missed the sail away M&G but had planned to meet up with everyone at the slot pull. Which I went to on TUESDAY MORNING and NOONE was there. :( Was afraid everyone had gambled all their $ away the night before :eek: As I was packing on the last day I found my "notes" and saw that the slot pull was on WEDNESDAY! :eek::o Met a lot of nice people on this cruise and each time we introduced ourselves we mentioned CC hoping it was someone from the roll call. The closest I got to any of you was when I walked to the secret deck on deck 9 to watch sailaway from GT and saw the SPLENDIDO sign on Paul and Shawn's door. (which I had on mine also, way down on deck 2!) This was our 3rd time on the Splendor, so I am looking forward to reading a "newbies" impressions. Thanks for sharing and hope you had an uneventful flight home. We were home and completely unpacked by 11 on Tuesday morning! :p

 

 

OH MAN!!!!! i am sorry you missed it Karen... how frustrating... dangit i was hoping to meet ALL of the splendidos in person!! we were on deck 7..slot pull was fun.. made 6 bucks..woo! yea we were chillin in newark airport at 11 waiting for our 3:21 flight..... stay tuned for way later to find out about our flight home...it was not fun.:mad:

We had Malcolm... I LOVED HIM... even his "woohoos".... they made me chuckle... I know lots of people dont like him for some odd reason, but he kept me laughing... which I like to do.

Ok so I am back.. I was busy uploading pictures and formatting... Sorry to keep everyone waiting... but in the meantime Gambee posted his Breeze review so that puts me as a bottom feeder as far as reviews go.. lmao.:p I am also deciding to change font color and format to make it a little easier to read..:o

It took me forever to decide which hotel to stay at… as in forever it took me about 3 months agonizing which route to go, Stay close to pier, stay at hotel by airport and take train etc... mind you I HAD NO CLUE how expensive NYC is to begin with! So ultimately I decided on The Holiday Inn Express on W. 48th St. Just for the sheer convenience of being so close to the pier along with the hustle and bustle of the city. YOLO RIGHT?? We were on the 7th floor with some sort of view of buildings.. I didn’t care at that point, we were there. Sorry I did not get a whole lot of pictures of the hotel. Another thing I did not realize about hotels in NYC is the rooms are super small! We had a king bed and barely enough room for the pull out sofa for mom.. but basically we were just sleeping there. They had a decent breakfast there too. The lobby area was very small IMO, it was also very crowded in the morning.. good thing it was nice outside where we could use the outdoor sitting areas!

All 5 of us then ventured out to get something to eat.. we stopped at a 24 hr deli up the street (see above map) and OMG…. I had the best chicken club sammich. Om nom nom… I was so hungry I didn’t get a picture of it.. I only have a couple pics of food because I wanted to enjoy dinner time and not have my nose stuck behind my camera.. so I apologize in advance for the people that like food porn.. :-/ We went back to our hotel, ate and visited until late.. We finally decided to hit the sack since we had a VERY BUSY day of sightseeing on Mothers Day. We only had one day there so we were going to make the most of it!

After a super duper awesome night of sleep... we woke up to a gorgeous day (the weather had been hit and miss the last few days) because I had cursed out mother nature the day before...

 

---Good Morning NEW YORK CITY!!!!! What a fabulous day for some sightseeing!!!(sorry for the huge photo.. I tried resizing it multiple times so I am leaving this one like this)

 

So we roll downstairs, turn the corner and the breakfast/lobby area.... MADHOUSE... We grabbed some food and went outside to enjoy some breakfast and coffee. After breakfast we wanted to get our passes to visit the 9/11 memorial which you have to select a time and print out. Heather was having issues getting it to do this on the lobby computer so finally the manager on duty told her she could use the computer behind the desk..(the staff at this hotel was amazing and so helpful!)...

After our passes in hand.. we are ready to go....

But wait!!!.... Before we head to Times Square.. Breakaway is in port today!! Gotta go see her first!!!

For this next installment instead of writing novels with each picture.. I am just going to post them.. if there is tips and hints or something funny that happened with them I will "attempt" to write some short blip...but I am a chatterbox (as if you couldn't tell already...) soooo I think the pictures from my iphone are the ones I am having a hard time resizing in photobucket.. so those will stay larger.. sorry about that.:confused:

We roamed and checked out different stuff until it was time to head to lower Manhattan to the 9/11 Memorial which we had tickets for at 1pm.. What train to take and how to get there without getting lost.. Look!! Police station!!! Twist my arm to go find a man in uniform...shoooooot.....
