Friends of ours did it in Europe She got on in the embarkation port of Amsterdam & her DH join her from Copenhagen

Contact the cruise line to see if you can do it ..it may not be allowed in all places & certainly not in a US port

Has anyone ever had a planned embarkation from a port of call from the cruise's itinerary if you could not embark on 1st day??

Generally speaking, cruises in Europe will allow later embarkation with pre-arrangement.

Cruises in the Caribbean, may or may not allow later embarkation. Until recently, most cruise lines would allow it with pre-arrangement. But, now, there seem to be immigration issues with some itineraries and several of the cruise lines are no longer allowing it.

It's best to contact the specific cruise line and find out their policy about your specific cruise.

It doesn't matter if the cruise line is European or not. Its to do with the fact that its US immigration and US ports at either end if the journey.

I think I read somewhere that its do with cost for the cruise line nowadays. They get charged if the come back to the US with extra people on board even if its legit paid for cruisers.

If you didn't get it in writing, find a box of tissues and cry away.

If you've already been through the wringer on a situation like this, please spell that out in your initial post so we know what's going on.
