Off the Solstice (May 30-June 6) to Alaska...

There are movies shown in the smaller theater (Celebrity Central). They offered Catching Fire, Gravity, and Lone Survivor. These were shown twice a day (early and late afternoon).

During the day, there are a variety of shows:

-seminars on local history of Alaska, sea life, Titanic, etc. (main theater)

-bingo (casino/Celebrity Central)

-trivia (Ensemble lounge)

-Hot Glass Show (deck 14 & outdoors)

-art auctions (deck 5)

Here's the night line up for the 7-night RT out of Seattle:

no show on day 1 (when you leave Seattle)

Day 2 (Sea Day): Captain's Welcome (intro of the officers and staff with some performances)

Day 3 (Ketchikan): Pulse (7pm, 9pm) This is a sampling of decade music, dance, and costumes by the entertainment performers. I really wanted to see this, but DH fell asleep before the late show.

Day 4 (Tracy Arm Fjord/Juneau): David Meyer, musician (DH was not interested, but heard he was...unique)

Day 5 (Skagway): Jason Bishop, magician/illusionist (7pm, 9pm) We went to the early show and enjoyed it thoroughly! He is young and a cutie! With a variety of disappearing illusions and quick hand tricks, he's fun to watch. Great card tricks, too!

Day 6 (Sea Day): Solstice the Show (8pm, 10pm) DO NOT MISS THIS! It's cirque-like with fantastic athleticism, agility, flexibility, and just overall ability to wow you! I know that an earlier post recommended the balcony. I have to say that our seats in the third row were amAAAAzing! They fly off the stage and over your head!

Day 7 (Victoria, BC): Farewell Tour (a little bit of everything from the week) This is earlier as Victoria is an evening port from 6pm to midnight. This show was at 4pm only.

Also, in the smaller theater (Celebrity Central), there is a nearly nightly show called Sin City Comedy. This DOES fill up. First night (day 2), the 10:30pm show was full over 30 minutes prior to showtime! We had to go the next night. It's the same show each night. There is a host, a burlesque performer, and a main stage comedian, Greg Vaccariello. Adult-themed, but not grotesque. The burlesque was tasteful, and I did not feel uncomfortable as a woman sitting next to her husband watching it. And Greg Vaccariello is hilarious!

The casino should open shortly after sail away (5:30pm is my guess from our cruise).

There's live music is so many locations...

Ensemble Lounge (deck 5 aft)

Observation Lounge (deck 14 forward)

Grand Foyer (deck 3 mid-ship, which you can hear and view from decks 4&5, as well as the mid-ship elevator banks on higher decks)

The outdoor hot tubs are open until 8pm and the Solarium hot tubs (which are indoor) are open until 9pm, if I remember correctly. I thought that a hot tub dip under the stars would be really neat, but it's never dark enough! You will still encounter sunshine at that time!

On the first night, we tried a specialty restaurant. We were booked in Aqua Class, so we received a BOGOfree coupon for embarkation/first night only. We chose Murano. Two of us in Murano for just $45...how could we NOT do it?!

There are sail away events and gatherings all over the ship. Our group from CC roll call met at the Sunset Bar, which was aft on the top deck. There were other groups in the Observation Lounge, which is forward with 180* views through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Our day went:

on board by 2pm

lunch and explore the ship (Mast Grill to avoid the mayhem in the buffet)

CC roll call drinks at Martini Bar

muster drill from 4:30-5:00pm

finished exploring the ship (lower decks)

unpack and get ready for dinner

Murano at 8:30pm (which lasted 2 hours)

And then we went to bed around 11pm or midnight

...even without a show, we kept busy!

We will also be sailing the Solstice in a few months. When we sailed her last year, service was a little 'off'. I wonder how service was for your trip. Also we will be sailing in Aqua class and wondered if the available seating for Murano BOGO had limited time slots. Did you find it difficult to eat at a decent time in Murano the first night. I wonder if boarding earlier would results in a earlier seating. We planned to get on the ship late.

First, the BOGO is for any specialty restaurant. I didn't find our coupon until after muster, so I went down and personally reserved a table for two. We had a late lunch, so we wanted a late dinner. It was 630pm. At that point in the day, the earliest available slot was 830pm, which was perfect for us. I think that you would be fine.

As for service, this was our first cruise...ever. CC had me worried about choosing X, but it was all for nothing. Everyone was friendly from room stewards in the hall to bar staff to the staff at Blu to Guest Relations to booking excursions on board to entertainment...we always were treated well with a nod, smile, or general greeting. Absolutely no complaints!

We were also on the May 30-June 6 cruise on the Solstice. I will add that David Meyer was fantastic. A xylophone of all things. From The Who to classical. He's very talented. Also, the service was great--what we've come to expect from Celebrity. The sommelier in the MDR (sorry, I forget his name) was the best we've ever had on a Celebrity cruise.

So I hear everyone talk about the aqua class and other classes, we are in a veranda room 6 deck i have seen nothing mention about this type of room or class. The room is located right about the middle. Anyone know if this is good or not that great. I know its a cruise so there all nice, but comparable.

Just a quick question, what does BOGO mean? I am sailing AQ in two weeks and I'm really interested in knowing what it is.

It means "Buy One, Get One".....you buy one dinner and get one free.....

Grocery stores use that term all the time:D
