Beverage Package

I'm going on the Navigator at the end of the month (super excited!). This question might be better suited specifically for the RCI board, but I'm asking it because I'm a first time cruiser (mods, please move if you think it needs to be).

If I purchase the "all non-alcohol" package and eat one meal at a specialty dining place, can I get an alcoholic drink without paying extra? I feel like I've gathered that you pay the $25 cover fee for the restaurant and get all-you-can-eat, but I'm not sure if it also includes margaritas without the über expensive alcoholic drinks package (I want some booze in my life, but not enough to justify an extra $45/day).

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

All the food on a cruise ship is "All you can eat". My husband always orders two shrimp cocktails and on 1st formal night will order the lobster AND the prime rib. But you must pay for any drinks in the main dining room or specialty restaurants on board.

Unless you are going to have 8 alcoholic drinks per day I don't think the drink package is worth it. The sodas are$1.99 per glass, not can, so figure out how many sodas you'll drink each day to see if its worth it. And on most ships everyone in your cabin must buy the package too. Just get each soda/drink each day, and, 15% is automatically added to your bill so you do not have to tip waiters.

Your non-alcoholic package will absolutely not cover any alcoholic drinks no matter where you order them. However, there is no need to purchase a package. Just order what you want when and where you want it and pay individually for the drinks. You don't need to carry your drink from a bar by any means, just order it at the table.

Specialty restaurants are not necessarily all you can eat either as one poster stated. In some, e.g. Chops, you may have extra appetizers and desserts but only one entree.

You don't need a "package" to get any drink...you can buy anything 'a la carte"...so if you only drink a couple alcoholic drinks, just buy them as you need them.

You have to drink about 7 drinks daily to make a package pay for itself...that's for soda OR alcohol!
