Celebrity Eclipse - Select Dining

We have just booked on first cruise on Celebrity and are really looking forward to it.

Could someone please help on the following:

We have booked Select Dining and usually prefer to eat early - about 6pm.

Is it possible for us to pre book this time and a table for 2 now or do we need to wait until we board the ship or just turn up at 6pm on the night?

Any tips regarding the speciality restaurants would also be appreciated.

Many thanks.

You can usually book therough the Celeb website on your 'manage my booking' page. You don't need to book for every day, but I normally do the first 2 or 3 just so you can get into the routine. Once you start turning up for your reservation, the staff at the door will help you book subsequent reservations. A word of warning on tables for 2 though. They are mostly beside each other and only 18" apart, so you almost share a table anyway. Its certainly not easy to have a really private conversation. Personally, we always got for big (8-10) tables. You have much more chance of getting seated quicker on them and unlike traditional dining, you will have different companions each night. Having said that, most people try and eat about the same time, so you will see some of the same faces. Its like perming 8 people each night from a pool of 30 odd.

If you go at 6PM each night, your chances of getting a window table for two are quite good. Yes, the tables are close together, but at least, when you are at the window you only have people on one side of you.

We never had to wait more than 3-4 minutes for a table for 2 no matter what time we showed up for dinner on the Eclipse this year. Excellent service. I miss it so.....:(

Yes, some of the tables are quite close together but we were fortunate enough to get a table by the window most nights (without even asking) that was a little more private. As it was a little out of the way, sometimes our wine glasses would be down to a quarter full before the sommelier topped them up. No worries, we never ran dry and loved "our" little table. On the nights when we were seated very close to another table or two, we were blessed with some lovely couples to chat with and get to know.
