Price Drop - Moving to online only

So why do they even offer to reduce prices?

I may not have it straight, but in the past you could get a price adjustment before final payment, right?

I do know that in the past I did not know that reductions were possible.

At one point I did not even know that rates changed from day to day.

When they started with Early Saver I started watching rates.

And, of course, I had to figure out the stuff with the different categories of cabins.

Early Saver is often so much less expensive than other rates that I cannot rationalize booking another rate.

But Early Saver makes me nervous and I don't need additional anxiety in life.

So what we do now is book at the last minute.

Maybe we miss going on a date we wanted, but whatever, you know?

So why do they offer reductions?

To get people to book further out?

At higher prices?

For customer goodwill?

I don't know.

I submitted two forms yesterday due to two price drops. Both forms were back in minutes and I have $352 onboard credit. We booked early saver and are past final pmt. I was submitting for two cabins and on one form I filled out something wrong and it was denied. I filled out the form again correctly and it was approved right away. Super easy!!

Another must have link to keep in your toolbox : http://www.carnival.com/legal/specials-terms-conditions.aspx

This lists the codes and conditions for each rate. For example, there are two sales for the following states. One is if you pick a cabin, one is if it's a guaranteed cabin. Two seperate rates. I had problems because they would deny me the rate because I picked a room, and were only looking at the second rate. I had to specify when calling to look at rate code P1N and NOT P2N. Once they had that info, the rate came up, and they fixed it. But the form denied it. I would reccomend going to that page, and putting the rate code in your request form.

I called as I usually do, got that message, sent the form, waited more than the hour the recording said it would take, called and got $180 drop as shown on Fare Viewer. Hours later it was denied by email....I paid in full before I got the email--final pay date changed several times when I did price drops.

For along time Carnival has had the reputation of calling 5 times and getting a different answer to the same question each time.

I will end up calling just as much if an advertised price drop is not honored and will get to know my PVP better.

Sooo,

Sounds like we better not count on getting any price adjustments.

They did something like this where I work.

I am not allowed to make corrections even when I know the computer is wrong.

The machines will rule the world soon.

Anyone had the computer approve their price adjustment?

I had a price drop last week so contacted my PVP and she asked that I fill out the form online. I did and my request was granted within 24 hours so it does happen!

We are getting ready to book our cruise online. Should we call and use a PPV instead. Sounds like most on here like using a PPV for all their cruise bookings. When we called the person we spoke with was not very helpful. Can you request a certain person as your PPV and if so can anyone suggest who i should work with that they have experience with and like. Thanks! :o

It's really up to you. A PVP (Personal vacation Planner) can make things easier on you and gives you the ability to talk to the same person all the time. I have a PVP but I don't use her much (even though she is very good) because I just prefer to do things myself and I usually book directly on the website. But sometimes I'll throw her a bone and let her book it even though I've done all the leg work myself.

Unfortunately, people cannot give out their PVP's names here on the website. If you post up your email, someone may send you an email with their PVP's name or someone may not. ;)

You know, there are actually some people who do not do the computer. What are those folks to do?

Sent from my iPhone 5 using Cruise Critic App

My employer has discounts for those who are using smart phones that are not available any other way. Many companies are moving in the direction of embracing technology and those who are failing to adapt will not recieve benefits they could otherwise get.

The switch to smartphone was made due to abuses. They retained more control over the issuance of those discounts and prevents line staff from bypassing those controls.

I get that question a lot, the answer is they lose out.

Please no flames..... just saying what is happening.

I booked 52 days before my oct 17th cruise on a Casino rate.paid balance on full already.3 days later the price dropped 100.00 on casino rate. I filled out the form for price drop for the heck of it. Haven't heard anything either way yet. Is there a chance that I might get the drop?

That form is meant for Early Saver passengers--you won't be getting the rate drop since you booked too late and weren't ES.
