Back to Back/room changes

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, we are sailing from Sydney on 11October to do a pacific island cruise on Radiance. There are some good prices from Hawaii to Sydney on 22nd September which joins our cruise. We cant afford to go as we have bills to pay but you know what, I am going to put this on our credit card and pay it off as I love cruising, thats another story

we will prob get an inside guarantee as our room is taken already on the RCI website. What happens when we change itineraries? Can we leave our suitcases and stuff onboard or do we have to clear customs in Sydney and recheck.

I presume if we were in the same rooms we could just leave our stuff but not sure the procedure if changing rooms.

I know that you guys on here will know all the info I need.

Thanks in advance for your help

You would normally pack everything but your hanging things. The stateroom attendant would move your bags and hanging things to the new stateroom.

It's a good idea to talk with the old and new stateroom attendant to confirm they way they do things.

Ok that seems like a good idea, we would just pack everything in suitcases and leaving hanging clothes, The cabin attendants would swap everything for us! Sounds good!

now all we have to worry about is how we are going to try and avoid putting on so much weight as we eat our way around the pacific ocean. No one will be able to help me with that one!!!!!

As Bob says, you can either have your stewards move your stuff or do it yourself. We normally move it ourselves as the stewards have enough to do on changeover day. They will lend you one of those hotel carts to make it easier to move everything. Also, you (hopefully) don't forget anything if you do it yourself! Go and find your new steward and ask them to do your new room first, so you can get into it early. Similarly ask your existing steward to do yours last. Don't forget each cruise is treated seperately, so make sure you settle your final bill for the first cruise...your account doesn't 'rollover'. Finally, you must remember to look really smug at breakfast on the last day as everyone else gets off...and you stay on!!:D

We did this in May on the Navigator. Just packed up everything except the hang ups. We met our new steward the night before and asked him to clean our new room as soon as possible. They brought a hotel cart and we helped them move our things as we did not want anything left behind. The new room was not clean but our things were secure and the steward cleaned it while we were escorted off and then on again by an officer and while we had a special lunch in the MDR. Almost painless and great fun to stay for another cruise while everyone else was leaving.
