It's really very simple. An empty cabin generates no revenue and the cost of moving the ship from point A to B is the same.Each cabin, once occupied, generates a certain amount of cash flow in drinks, photos, etc. The cabins with passengers will generate income for the staff as oppossed to an empty stateroom. People might go to the casino or buy something in the shops.

I was able to snag an inside cabin on deck 8 in earlier this spring for $124 per person on this voyage. Now that was a deal. Excited to try a vision-class ship. It's much better than the Enchantment out of Port Canaveral. IMOP.
