changing cabins with ES

We need to book our cruise within the next 2 weeks to be able to get the ES rate. However, our preferred cabin locations are currently unavailable. If we booked cabins on the same deck and same category, and then in 2 or 3 or 4 months time a cabin in our preferred location became available, is it free to switch to that cabin number or will a fee be charged?

I called my PVP to change cabins yesterday, and I am booked ES. He said there would be no fee. I thought there was, but so far I have not seen anything.

We have done this and there is no problem at all and no charge.

We did this on the Fantasy last year with our porthole. As long as the cabin is the same category you should be fine. You might consider calling CCL to see if there's anything available since they show a limited number of rooms.

Technically with Early Saver rates there is a $50 per person change fee, but it is usually waived if you are not changing the sailing date or the person in the cabin or configuration of people in a cabin.

Bit off-topic, but, I had to change sailing date and it did cost $50/person which I knew up front and was willing to accept.

Doesn't cost anything to change cabins within the same category. And it will only cost you the difference in the price to move up in another category. Can't downgrade with early saver so that's not an issue.

If you're staying the same category, adding people, or moving up in category, you don't get charged. No downgrading permitted. And you will get charged to switch a passenger out if you try to do that. :)

I actually changed out one passenger for another on my ES booking last week and they did not charge me.

Exactly this! We have always upgraded our room with the ES rate and have never had a problem;)
