I was wondering if it were possible to board the second day while at port and not start the cruise from the beginning. Also would there be any renumeration from the cruise line?

My expectations would be that they might allow you to board on the second day if the ship stays in port the first night, but I doubt that they would give you a refund for the night not used. After all, the cruise line would have an empty cabin that cannot be used by anyone else, so they would not want to give up the revenue for that night.

All you can do is ask. Expect them to say no, but you can always ask.

As for a discount for boarding late, absolutely not.

It will depend on the itinerary. You can always ask.

You will definitely not get any money back as cruise lines have a long standing policy on paying for the entire cruise whether you are on board or not.

 

Whether you can board late depends on the cruise line and the local authorities from the port in which you want to embark. It also depends on local cabotage laws.
