HollyB Posted April 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2004 I asked your opinions on this dress a while ago. It came up again in a different size so this time I bought it. I have bought it too big so I can have my wee "wummin" take it in and make it measure for me. Will have her put darts in to give the bust more definitiion. This time, shawl was included: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gordon.heal/tealmermaidrosees.JPG
HollyB Posted April 30, 2004 Author #2 Share Posted April 30, 2004 PS.. Reason I bought it was my visit to the colour expert who says YES this will suit me! Just for a spare formal, thought it was totally different and for once, not red or black!

HollyB Posted May 1, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted May 1, 2004 Thanks everyone! What do you think..silver shoes and bag? Would love to find shoes & bag exact colour but dont think I will. Do you think silver accessories and silver/diamante jewellery? I will be celebrating my birthday and our wedding anniversary on 30th May on board the ship and it will also be our first formal night, so this will be my outfit! I am leaving my burnt amber and black ballgown at home for the first time in ages. Just felt like a change! Thanks for comments! I am glad I bought it now! Princess Poshpaws Posted May 1, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 1, 2004 Holly, that gown is out of this world, where did you buy it?. I am green with envy,I wore the same colour in a 2 piece long skirted suit for a brothers wedding,I was lucky to get some shoes in matching silk exactly the same colour, they were edged in pearlized cream. Have fun wearing it ,you will look a million dollars! Paws.
Happy ks Posted May 1, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 1, 2004 HollyB, I'm glad you bought it. The first time you posted it, I loved it, but you did not get a lot of great comments. I think the dress is lovely and I love the color. You will look stunning. Kathy

HollyB Posted May 1, 2004 Author #17 Share Posted May 1, 2004 Thanks Jean! I am going to take it to the wee lady in Dumbarton Road to tailor it for me. Bought it a size bigger to fit the bust, and so as she can put some darts in etc! This time I managed to get the shawl as well so really happy! Meanwhile, I am on a slimfast and green leaves menu for the next four weeks aaaaaaaaaaghhhhh!!!

HollyB Posted May 2, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Donna! This cruise I have NO FLYING da na!!! I am taking two cases for one week cruise, I am going to pack as much as I ever dreamed of packing, and for once I dont need to worry about luggage. All goes in our car right to ship..yipppeeee! I just ordered this for a casual night. I know its an evening dress but its my idea of casual. Kind of neutral, casual colour I think. http://www.littlewoods-online.com/images/products/mag/ex/ex995v18m.jpg Re the teal evening dress, I am having tartan "trews" made for DH for his Highland Formal outfit, he doesnt want to take his kilt but will take the trews instead along with the rest of his formal night highland wear. He is wearing "ancient Gordon" tartan which matches my evening dress! This is the first time he has even been able to take his highland wear so I am looking forward to the photos of our anniversary night!

donnaw Posted May 2, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Again, another fabulous choice which will look wonderful on you. Your going to knock the pegs out from under him yet again! Poor man will have to stay awake the whole time to keep an eye on you or lock you in the cabin! Can't wait to see the pictures, just don't break his back out to the car with the bags! Pretty sure your firewall is blocking access to the pictures but they are just of the Horizon balcony so new big deal. We still have to figure out why you can't open pictures that are sent to you. seagulls Posted May 2, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 2, 2004 I love your "casual" evening dress. As for Vincent's trews, my Dad was in the Gordon Highlanders and I have a picture of him in full dress, (kilt though not trews) . Is the ancient Gordon tartan similar? HollyB Posted May 2, 2004 Author #24 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Of course its a secret! Well at least until after my cruise! I would die if someone else had the same dress! Donna, my internets gone totally crazy think I need your patches! Jean, V usually wears Dress Gordon. He can wear any of the Gordon Tartans, and also a few others as his family go way back on the scots side ( not like me being a 100% mongrel!) so he gets to choose so many but he wears Gordon which is the official tartan for our name. Dress Gordon in black, white, green, yellow. Ancient Gordon is much more blues, pale blues, greens. There is also "Weathered Gordon" which is browns, greys, and oh a few others too! Modern Gordon is another one but doesnt look good in trews. The trews are hand stitched and made with a high waistband so as they can be worn with a Prince Charlie Jacket and waistcoat. They look really grand! His trews are costing more than my bloomin dress so I am buying my quota! Does Hugh not wear a kilt? He should get the full rig out. He would look wonderful in it! I love seeing Vincent in his! This is a compromise as the trews are not as heavy as the kilt and make a change for him.
HollyB Posted May 2, 2004 Author #25 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Next question on the evening dress. Hair up or down? I cant decide. I have a hair appointment booked for an up do, but should I just wear my hair down with this dress..or up...
