roboref Posted May 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2004 I've seen on four separate TV shows lately guys dressed for very formal occasions in a tuxedo shirt, great black formal jacket and jeans! I hope we don't see this look showing up on formal nights on the cruise ships too often. For those who've cruised recently, have you seen this? Guest Posted May 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Most cruise lines request "no jeans in the dining room" for dinner. I don't this "fad" will catch on. Char click here to send me an e-mail
gnucruiser Posted May 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Both of my boys wore tux shirts and jackets complete with cumberbunds and vests with black Wrangler jeans for my oldet boys wedding. No body seemed to notice that they weren't in tux slacks and they were much more comfortable with their jeans and cowboy boots on. Of course they were raised in a very rural area and that is way more dressy than the normal attire. I of course thought they looked great. My husband on our cruise wore the whole tuxedo and looked wonderful also. He is a contractor who lives in jean shorts and work boots but he adapted great to a tux! JanetMarie Posted May 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Suze - sounds marvelous! On a cruise ship, however, I'm sure it would be frowned upon. tinsel57 Posted May 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Welcome to Texas, where many formal occasions you will find jeans paired with tux jackets. tinsel57

luvinit Posted May 4, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Okay at the risk of getting "blasted" what is the faux paux with wearing denim???? I understand "formal night" okay no denim, but come on I have seen denim pants that cost more than a formal dress. As long as but cheeks aren't hanging out of the back pockets or "God forbid" a thong is it really that big of a deal??? I think most men look really sexy in a nice pair of 505's, boots and a button down...but of course thats JMHO. Hope I don't start to much trouble but I'm really stressing out over this "what not to wear stuff" Tracy
NeedAVacation! Posted May 4, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I would rather see jeans on a nice looking guy, either paired with or without a tux shirt and coat - hell - for that matter, either with or without a shirt!!! - than to see someone sssqqquueeezzeedd into a size 10 dress when they are, in fact, a much "larger" size. At first I did become all stressed out over this dress up thing. I have since cooled my jets and while I will be dressed appropriately for EVERY occasion, including the dining room, I am certain I will mostly likely be one of the most under dressed people on this ship! 'Tis ok 'tho. I will never see any of these people again in my entire life! Happy 16th Birthday to my kid!!!!
