Using Ipad in cabin

We will be on NCL Gem this weekend..Does anybody know after I set up our connection if we can use our Ipad in our cabin or do we have to go to a certain area to get a better connection..Thank you

Maybe in port. Data speed tend to be not so good via satellite under way. Though then you're better off just finding an internet cafe.

Speed on the ship is limited. Most folks say facetime is blocked.

 

In any event, you have to login to the wifi/internet and pay per minute on most ships, or per mb on the newer ones.

facetime was not blocked. used my ipad in cabin however as mentioned connections are sometimes bad or very slow

Was on the Gem 10/18-10/27 and did FaceTime with my daughter each day. I had no issues.

On all ships they should have extended WiFi to be available in pretty much all staterooms. If you get a decent WiFi connection (on iOS preferably two out of three arches), you're good.

 

The limitation with the network isn't the speed of WiFi but the speed of satellite link - so as long as your device can connect to the WiFi network, it doesn't matter where you are, the connection to the internet won't be any faster if you sat below a WiFi base station. :)
