Has anyone tried it on Celebrity? Did it work?

Uses the cruise ship network for texting and such between devices on the ship. Very easy to block from a networking perspective (Carnival blocks it), but in theory if not blocked would allow communication on the ship (with other users of the app on the ship) without an Internet plan.

 

NCL has an app on the Getaway class ships that allows this for $8/cruise/person. Awesome if you have teens as you can text/call them instead of using clunky and unreliable walkie talkies.

I've not tried it on Celebrity yet, but I did try it on RCCL. It worked, but only if we were both in spots that had WiFi. On the ship we were on, they were sporadic.
