We will be sailing on the breakaway January 18 ,the ship leaves at 4 o'clock .what time would be good to get to the terminal to have lunch ?Also ,quickest way from Penn Station in a cab .10th Avenue up to 56 street? I know the turnaround on 12th Ave.(north)has a long line.

If you get to the pier around 11:00AM you should be one of the first passengers onboard when the boarding starts at approximately 12 noon. You should be enjoying lunch by 12:30PM and leave the driving to the taxi driver. They all know the quickest ways to get there.

you may want have extra time on that day because there two ships will be in port. your and QE. Not sure if QE is assigned to Brooklyn. Someone should back this statement if i am wrong.

Let the taxi do the driving. they know where to go and best way to go. Make sure you head toward Eight avenue (Amtrak ticket agents) side of terminal. This way when you get in taxi it take you uptown. 7th Ave where NJT and LIRR ticket agent is southbound.

I would target an 11-11:30 arrival time at the port to be on to enjoy lunch.

I prefer not to waste time or $ in a taxi especially if there are multiple ships in port. We get a taxi from NY Penn and I tell them 12th & 47th--ish. We get dropped somewhere across from the ship on the northbound side of 12th Ave. Cross at the traffic light, drop luggage off, head up the escalator to check-in.

The NY cruising schedules shows that Cunard's QE will be there too--cool to see!
