I forgot to ask, when we did HAL almost 26 years ago, they had Indonesian people working on the ship, and they were wonderful. Do they still have that? At the end of the cruise, they entertained us with the instruments that they had made, and was very intertaining.

Your cabin and dining stewards are Indonesian, as well as a few other workers you are likely to run into. Lounge stewards are Filipino, and they also fill a few other posts you'll see.

Each group has its own folkloric show, and one is presented alternately. If you're on a 1-week cruise you won't know which show you'll have until it's presented; some longer cruises have both. Both are worth going to.

Does the Westerdam have a deck one can run laps on?

yes, above the Lido. I think it is the Observation Deck.

The Promenade deck is great for walking - the deck wraps around the entire ship and allows for lovely views as well.

Does the Westerdam have the Adiago strings as part of their entertainment?

Just got back from Ryndam and I love to sit and listen to classical music. Most nights they played true classical though some nights it changed to a kind of Bohemien/classical which is not my taste. Just a note. The Explorer Lounge was standing room only most of the nights.

We also enjoyed the Piano player and Guitar player at Mix.

We also enjoyed the band at the Ocean Bar.

And we enjoyed the comic who showed us a new way of looking at ships bathrooms! Incredibly funny!
