mjonis Posted January 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Anyone know in the general vicinity of Valor cabin 8300 (verandah deck), if the Lido deck noise is going to be bad/loud? From the deck plans it looks like it's before the wood floors. I looked in the cabin reviews, but only found for room 8292 (2 rooms back) or 8309 (other side of ship, 2 rooms down--closer to underneath the floor) and it seems the 2 were contradictory (8292 said it was fine, 8309 said it was way too loud). Is 8B category considered a "downgrade" from 8D? Seems 8B has good location on Upper Deck, mid ship, IMO. Thoughts? Thanks! --Kevin
Cruisegirl6 Posted January 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I stay far away from that cabin you will hear noises and chairs moving and such above you.
Sweet Dutch Girl Posted January 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Hard surfaces always transfer sound...just bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Ships aren't designed with sound batts in the floors or ceilings, older ships don't even have them in the walls. Though I must say I was on deck seven on the magic, mid ship, and it was the quietest room I have ever experienced. Guess that is why they charge more for rooms with cabins above, below, and adjacent.
pghsteelerfan Posted January 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2015 We were on Valor in May 2013 and had cabin 8331, starboard (right side). This cabin is located below the outside section of the Lido Deck right by the doors from the buffet (area between the bar and the grill area). There were tables and chairs and the only noise we noticed was some chairs being moved on occasion but it wasn't too bad and it wasn't constant. We were rarely in the cabin during the day where you'd probably get more noise from chairs being moved by people coming and going. This was the southern itinerary out of San Juan, which is port heavy, so people didn't seem to be staying up as late at night as they would an itinerary with more sea days. The exception was the night of the Deck party, which went on pretty late on our cruise but I had ear plugs (DH snores) and never heard a thing. Location wise, this was the most convenient cabin we've had and I'd book it again.
bwlr1985 Posted January 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2015 We just got off the Valor about a week ago and had room 8299. Never noticed any noise from the Lido at all. Now the next door noisy neighbors - yeah that.

mjonis Posted January 22, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Thanks for the info everyone. I was able to get an Upper level (midship) cabin instead. I know some people consider 8B a "downgrade" from 8D, but I didn't want to chance any extra noise. I'm perfectly happy with deck 6. Plus I need the exercise to walk up to the lido deck. haha --Kevin

A band sets up across from there about 9pm and plays until the wee hours of the morning. This band is Blood Power-- one of the most sought after cruise band-- it will be loud your best bet-- empress deck Edited January 22, 2015 by serene56

Aske Posted January 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 22, 2015 I've stayed in 8325 and we didn't have any issues. Though when booking this room my PVP did say it was under the pool/deck so it had potential. I booked the Valor next year and decided I liked the location and didn't have the noise issue I'd take the same room.

Cabin 6372, looks like it's right at the "line" where the elevator empty space is, and the Club O2 wall, but looks like it's down past the Casino? Yes, past the casino, but above Club 02 near where the video arcade is. I don't know if that would generate much noise or not - hopefully someone else can add some input on that. Yeah, 6382 I think was the closest cabin that had a review and they claimed it was quiet. --Kevin
Cruisegirl6 Posted January 22, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Im sorry to bring up another topic but since we all speaking about the Valor (OP don't mean to interrupt your board but only going to ask once) I am hoping everybody was comfortable and cool in their staterooms curious if anybody thought it was too warm even when you adjust it to the coldest setting? pghsteelerfan Posted January 22, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Yeah, 6382 I think was the closest cabin that had a review and they claimed it was quiet. --Kevin I just looked up 6382, right above the back section of the arcade and not too far from your cabin...if the other review claimed it was quiet, you should be good to go. Are you cruising out of San Juan or later when Valor moves to Port Canaveral? serene56 Posted January 22, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Yeah, 6382 I think was the closest cabin that had a review and they claimed it was quiet. --Kevin is ten cabins from the OP cabin. cabins in either direction will make a huge difference. when looking at deck plans-- make sure the elevators are lining up. 6372 is above the Club 2o club-- that is where the teens meet- I would think loud music will be over before the wee hours of the morning - except the last night when they pull an all nighter. Can you see whats available o the empress deck.

We have always booked 7411 on this class ship two decks for food/pools two decks down for entertainment and away from public noise areas on the victory we are in cabin next door to you since the 7411 area was not available

Here's what's currently left: 7215 7423 7217 7216 7212 7211 I'm leaning towards 7216 vs. 7423 only because I don't smoke and I know from past experience, that if you're in the back of the ship, the smoke from the front makes its way down and you get fumigated. Unless that's changed. Edited January 23, 2015 by mjonis

mjonis Posted January 23, 2015 Author #25 Share Posted January 23, 2015 what smoke? cig smoke? not allowed on balconies Really? Wow. OK, cool. I did not know that (the last time I sailed Carnival was 2011 and you certainly could smoke on your balcony as I got to breathe cigar smoke every day). Although I can understand (if I smoked) that someone would want to be able to do that on their own balcony. So then I guess I'll take the 7423 then.
